It was the early afternoon and Helainia decided to walk the halls of the Grand Castellum for exercise.
Naturally her guards followed her, you never knew what kind of potential threat or danger lurked around the corners... after all, her husband felt better with his wife being protected at all times.
She saw someone walking on the opposite side of the hall, and she smiled warmly.
"Would you care to accompany a Queen desperate for conversation? I'm afraid my guards aren't much for enriching conversations and I'm getting quite bored." Helainia said to them as she gestured to her guards who stayed silent and looked ahead of them.

Helainia was not always Queen Helainia Bastos of South Nabar, she was originally Lady Helainia Marques daughter of the Duke of Cardona. Cardona is found in North Nabar and growing up there wasn't easy for her by any means. Her father held high expectations for his children and if they met those expectations then he would voice how proud he was of them, if they didn't then he simply would keep his distance from his own kids until they met whatever expectations he had of them. To the old Duke of Cardona, you either did well or you didn't there was no in between.
Helainia was brought into the world, kicking and screaming. She was a cute infant with the tiniest nose and smallest fingers, though her wails were loud. Her mother loved her dearly and didn't want to part with her, but the wet nurses had to do their duties.
Growing up, she loved reading, writing, socializing, going to the beach and swordplay... yes, the then future Queen of South Nabar was and still is rather handy with a sword.
Traveling to South Nabar was a long and arduous journey but she braved it due to her future that was then hanging in the balance.
Her then happy-go-lucky demeanor changed quite a bit when she was betrothed and then when she got married her demeanor was still pretty lively but a bit more serious since she had new responsibilities to tend to as Queen of South Nabar.
As Queen, she believes that what she does for the people and the kingdom is right... or so she thinks. There is no handbook on how to be a good Queen, but she knows that there are more important things to be done than second guess herself. So she usually dives in head first and does her duties as best she can.
Upon getting married, the thought of being a wife actually freaked her out a bit at first but she has since managed to ease into her role as a wife, a wife who is loyal to her husband.
In her free time, she prefers to either walk around and think, or play games of chess. She likes things that make her think and things that enrich her mind. She hates being bored and despite her up front and lively demeanor, she is no fool. She knows that snakes can lurk around every corner and she does her best to sniff them out like a mongoose.
In some rare instances she'll do things that only benefit herself in the moment but other times she'll do what is best for the people of Nabar.
Helainia loves being Queen but people say that heavy is certainly the head that wears the crown... and in order to keep her head steady and her crown from falling, she makes sure she keeps a strong neck.

“Oh do join me, there’s far too much of this for just me.” Atia held up her glass showing she’d already had half a glass before she was joined in one of the seemingly endless rooms at the grand castellum. She’d been quite aloof for the few days she’d spent here so had felt it was best to leave her own quarters this evening and was there for company if others came upon her.
