T.S.D - Test & Simulation Droid - Uniform Colors: Pink, White and Black.
This is what Droids were originally made for. These are Droids that are made to simulate humans identically so that the company that made them, Progression, can do tests on them to "better humanity". Progression started out as tech company primarily, but they have expanded so much since their start, that it would be almost impossible to name a business they haven't dipped their toes in. Progression is the wealthiest company on all of Adrovan*. Progression has more recently become very interested in things like medicine, surgeries, and other medical and mental treatments for humans. After Gavin took over in 5188, they started to build up their medical department. T.S.D's are often put through extreme mental and physical stress, in order to try to develop treatments to treat different types of stress in humans. Whatever condition Progression wants to treat, they will make a Droid with said condition to do tests until they learn how to treat it. Regular citizens know about these types of Droids existing but they don't know how bad the extent of what is done to them is. There are small groups of people who do care about the ethics of this company but they are usually silenced through bribes, and when that doesn't work, violence. No one really has any proof of this however, because of the power Progression holds. Every time one of their competitors starts gaining traction, they just buy them out, or bury them.
H.A.D - Human Assistance Droid - Uniform Colors: Yellow, White, and Black
The second thing Droids were used for.
These are Droids which aid with assisting humans in daily life.
They could be, Nurses, Health Care Workers, Doctors, Child Care Workers, Shippers/Movers, Domestic Care Takers, Homemakers, Therapists, Personal Chefs, Counselors, Teachers, etc. These are the second most purchased Droids out of all of them. They can be sold to individuals or businesses/hospitals.
I.A.D - Income Acquisition Droids - Uniform Colors: Purple, White, and Black.
This is the third type of Droid to be sold. I.A.D's take over the job of the human who buys them. They get trained to work for whoever bought them, as if they were a new worker, but all the money goes to the owner of the Droid. while other Droid's are usually government workers who don't get paid, these droids generate pay for their owners by doing their jobs for them, so they can focus on their hobbies and passions. This is the most sold type of Droid. many people work for 10+ years to afford one so they can "retire". if their Droid stops working or needs repairs then they will have to return to work in its place, or risk losing their job.
H.S.D - Human Satisfaction Droid - Uniform Colors: Black, White and Red
These are Droids who work as physical partners to humans. They are used to be romantic, sexual, or platonic partners. They are more expensive to purchase than normal Droids and are the 3rd most sold Droid. These Droids were released only recently despite people asking for them since the first Droids were released.
G.A.D Government assistance droids - Uniform Colors: Green, Black, and White
The G.A.D's are employed by the government to do jobs no one else wants to do. They are usually construction workers, police officers, body guards, waste management, mechanics, electricians, fire fighters, or work for Progression or the Overseer directly. There are many other jobs that fall under the G.A.D umbrella, including any position at a company with strong ties to The Overseer. You can see a G.A.D in almost any job, because sometimes a company will buy this type of Droid to avoid giving out a paycheck, then they only need to pay taxes to the government which costs far less than employing a human or a human's personal Droid.
M.P.D The final type of Droid that is sold Is a Multi purpose Droid. Their uniform colors are Black, White, and Blue. They are the most customizable type of Droid and can be used for virtually anything. People were encouraged to be creative with the uses of this type of Droid. Some people who want very specific jobs done will get these types of Droids. These are the most often discarded or abandoned Droids and the most expensive too. Very wealthy people are the target audience of M.P.D's. Some people will have one made to create music or art just for them and then get bored with them and abandon them. These Droids have also been used often to replace dead friends and loved ones. People will gather as much information, pictures, recordings, and stories about a loved one as they can and have a perfect replica made to take their place after they die. Some people who can't have children or would prefer a perfectly behaved child will also have this type of Droid commissioned. You will also see this type of Droid employed by companies who want very specific tools for the job built into their Droid.
*Adrovan is the planet also known as the Overworld in the Archaic Era, and Earth during the Medial Era. The planet of human origin. In the year 5208 When Project Enigma takes place, all other species in the connecting galaxies have ceased communication with Adrovan. Adrovan is trapped in an artificial Void, thinking there is no other life in the universe, again. The planets surrounding Earth have all been vacated to create the illusion that humans are all that's left. All records of other humanoid species outside of humans have been destroyed or hidden for ages at this point.
In the Archaic times, communication with the Overworld from outsiders was rare. Humans made up stories about those beings, thinking they were Gods and Goddesses, or Demons and Devils. Only things of Myths and Legends. No one came to Earth enough for anyone to collectively believe in anything other than these legends, and when they did, they hid in human shapes.
During the Medial Era not many people believed in aliens or other humanoid species still, and all proof of them was kept from civilian eyes, until it couldn't be anymore. The war between Xix and Zort changed that at last. It got so bad that it became a universe wide war. When Earth finally got caught up in it, it was 2112. When Zort first attacked Earth, their goal was to make the terrified population collect their own planet's resources, and offer them up to the Zortens. They wanted to make the humans terraform their own planet to destruction like they did with many many species before them, to continue to grow their massive military. A group of Zortens who used to work for the Zort Armada broke away when they realized what their planet was really doing a few years before this. They recruited aliens from all over the galaxy to stand up against Zort. They wanted to work towards the liberation of all the planets under Zort's rule, especially Xix. Xix is a dying planet because of eons of mistreatment by Zort. This group eventually grew its numbers so large that when Zort's military arrived on Earth, so did they. Almost all of Earth fought beside them against the attacking aliens. Many of the aliens forced into working for the Zorten government, who had no true loyalty to them, also turned over to the side of liberation as soon as their higher ups started to fall. The rebel group, called Eclipse, were able to take down and dismantle the Zorten Government. The war ended in 1 day after the attack on Earth. This Battle is usually referred to as the Battle of 2112, and is known as the end point of the Intergalactic war. This event finally liberated Xix and all other planets from Zort's rule. Actually fixing the damage they caused would take decades, but they'd get there in time. Almost everyone in control was captured and executed so a new generation of Zortens from Eclipse took their place. Zort is now one of the most peaceful planets after they rebuilt their entire society from the ground up. After this war, when humans no longer feared the aliens, they were able to assimilate into human society. This took many years but eventually Earth became a place you could see all kinds of species coexisting. At some point Earth stopped treating outsiders kindly and started returning to their old views. It seemed that the only reason they were civil with any of the aliens at all is because they had a common enemy. When Zort saw so many of the same behaviors of their former leadership reflected in humanity they decided to hide from Earth. All the other planets collectively came to an agreement. It was best to let the humans sort out their own issues. They had been at war for so long and only wanted peace. A peace which humans, were not ready for. Earth is still a baby planet after all in the grand scheme of the universe. They destroyed and hid all evidence of "outsiders'" existence, and vacated Earth and the surrounding planets. They knew that wouldn't be enough, so they trapped Earth in an artificial Void to make it seem like humans were all alone in space. They knew all the humans would kill each other long before they could ever figure out the technology to dismantle it. Especially since it could only be dismantled from outside the Void. They even wrote false history to fill the gap that outsiders were in the open.
When Earth became Adrovan the name change was a result of a new government system. A World Wide Government. The WWGO. Progression wasn't formed until 5008 it was formed by a man named Hodrick Varns. Hodrick Varns was the Overseer at the time. The Overseer is the highest point of the WWGO (World Wide Government Organization). The current CEO in 5208 is a man named Gavin Varns. While Gavin is not the overseer, He DID inherit his families' company. The current Overseer in 5208 is a woman who has strong ties to Progression, named Sofia Ashwell. Ms. Ashwell and Gavin have a strong partnership in the business world, with billions of dollars moving between their companies every day.
