Rip had barely had time to use the toilet, wash his hands and rinse his mouth before Gideon had interrupted him to alert him their guest was awake.
“Keep him company and tell him I’ll be there in a minute. Keep the information to a minimum, he’s safe and he will be all right. I’ll bring him one of your special meal replacements in case he needs it, he seemed rather weak and needs a boost. I suppose you’ll be telling me, Gideon, to take one for myself?”
He headed quickly to the galley to retrieve a couple of glasses for water and to get the bars.
“Let him know I’m almost there,” he said said as he walked back and caught sight of the medbay door at the end of the corridor.
Gideon was surprised by their guest waking, apparently the sedatives she had administered were wearing off. She blamed her Captain, if she didn’t have to argue with him all the time then she would have been able to pay better attention to her patient. She considered simply drugging the young man again, enough to put him into a comfortable sleep while she dealt with his possible injuries. But she supposed Captain Hunter would probably want to know their guest had awakened.
“Captain Hunter?” Gideon announced, “Your visitor is awake in the medbay and slightly disoriented. What actions would you like me to take?”
Well, at least he had the sense to take something for himself, Gideon thought to herself pettily. She turned her attention back to the medbay. She would have liked to activate her avatar, as she usually did during proper introductions but sadly there was no console in the medbay. She would have to bother Captain Hunter about that as well.
“Hello, I am Gideon,” she greeted anyways, “There is no need for concern. You are perfectly safe and will remain that way. I do request you remain in the medbay couch for the time being until I have fully verified that you are well. Captain Hunter should be returning shortly.”
Ever since he had joined the Doctor and Amy on their travels, Rory had met many different species and been on hundreds on different space ships. Sometimes he’d been met by human creatures, other times by lifeforms that should not be able to exist at all. He dimly remembered the person who had carried him into what he assumed was a ship - and they had looked very human.
What he was hearing now was not the voice of a person, but that of a computer. And her words may have sounded calming and reassuring to someone who had not been through what he had seen.
“Hello Gideon,” he said cautiously, trying to sit up slowly to take a look around. As far as medbays went, this one was really very uncomfortable, he would have preferred a bed to wake up on.
“What happened to me?”
He didn’t really feel like getting up and moving around.
“How did you find me?”
