The Cotters - Aging up & fireplace dramas

Luke and Charles age up during the week, Luke into a child and Charles into a child. Being a proud father Cannon makes his kids a birthday cake each and celebrate them in the morning before he has to leave for work.

Luke kept his hair reasonably long and immediately took to the old violin nobody had played in decades.

He filled the halls with his music when he practiced morning, noon and night. Nobody minded his occasional missed note they were happy to hear him play.

Charles aged into a teenager becoming more analytical and building on his business smarts. Much like Cannon he had imagined an accumulation of wealth in his life, he felt business was the way to go.

For the hundredth time this week the Cotter's fireplace set the lounge ablaze and this time Elyse. All of the Cotters have a large fear of fire as both the fireplace and oven combust often. The only person who doesn't have this fear so far is Luke. The carpet has turned to dust so many times they keep the floor bare. The insurance barely covers their couch, yet they keep turning the fireplace on

The Cotters - A trip to a park

After Gabe's birthday, the family had a trip to the park across town for the day. Cannon said he would of loved to join but had some matters to attend to. So Summer gathered Gabe, Charles, Luke, and Elyse together and set off.

Summer was very chuffed to see her children altogether exploring and having fun. They'd all been working very hard on their education and extra circular work at home they hadn't much time for leisure. As for Summer it's been the first time in a while she hasn't had an infant or toddler to care for.

Luke and Charles went fishing together at the small pond in the back of the park. Charles even caught a small Minnow!

The kids had fun on the playground making friends. Luke made a small group of friends as well who he got on with very well!

During his time at the park Gabe met another teenager, Cateleya. They got on well immediately clicking on politics, hobbies and general joking around. The family were on their way out and heading home. Gabe let her know he will see her again either at school, or around the neighborhood.

The Cotters - Gabe's Birthday

On Gabe's big day Cannon made sure to get in the kitchen and make his brother a birthday cake. Cannon has been getting very proficient in the kitchen recently especially due to Summer having a big dislike for being in the kitchen.

Gabe blew out his candles and aged up to a teenager! He's analytical and outgoing, a great mixture for his ambitious future wants. Gabe is an A plus student and he's aiming to have a good comfortable office job.

The Cotters - A small update

While Gabe, Charles and Elyse are children they spent a lot of time together. They worked on their skills and encouraged each other. Summer enjoyed seeing them becoming so close. Charles especially, he started really looking up to Gabe.

Silas' old garden started to go to ruin after his passing. Gabe spent many hours reading about gardening and ways to rid of pests. He got to work weeding all the vegetables and even planted some additional plants.

After Luke's aging up to a toddler Collen came by a lot in the night. She spent a lot of time checking on her grandchildren and kids despite her lack of vigilance when alive.

The Cotters - Small Changes

Elyse had her birthday and aged up into a child. She became not only comforting to others but also very creative. Luke also aged into a toddler. He was very curious about the world and refused any kind of haircut. He wanted to look like Summer and Elyse with their long hair.

The Cotters are dealing with the loss of Silas and Collen well, even more so now that their spirits drift around after midnight. Cannon is doing well in the advancing of his career and Summer decided it was time for a kitchen update.

The Cotters

The third child of Summer and Cannon is born, his name is Luke Cotter. Elyse was not thrilled and was very unhappy about the new addition, don't let the photo fool you.

Charles is now a child and is very close with his uncle Gabe. Cannon is thrilled they get along. Cannon took up an enjoyment of cooking and the boys often joined him in the morning.

They were both aspiring to be the top in their classes and encouraged each other. Everyday they got home and head right to the dinning table to speed through their work before going off to play.

Silas came to visit the other day. It was the dead of night he appeared just as Gabe was walking down the stairs. He often gets nightmares and goes by the fire for comfort until the fear has subsided. Gabe was immediately happy to see his passed father.

The Cotters - Collen Cotter

After Silas passed Cannon and Gabe spent a lot of time bonding over their father and grew very close. Cannon took over the repairing in the house and Gabe spent a lot of time working on reading books about gardening tips.

Collen spent a lot of her time upstairs in her room or by the chess table occasionally looking down into the yard. In their early years of marriage Collen and Silas were somewhat friends. They had a competitive spirit and would often have a game of chess, whoever won could berate the other.

Not even a week after Silas, Collen passed away in the yard. She had ventured out to ask if the boys wanted anything to eat for lunch. Cannon and Summer rushed over, they were shocked and upset. Summer tried begging the grim reaper to spare Collen but he said it was her time.

They put Collen's grave next to Silas' in the yard. Many came to say goodbye and for days following many of the people she was friends with came to wish their condolences. Even Travis came to say goodbye, however he was quickly told to leave followed by a string of insults. Collen's headstone read,

"Collen Cotter. Mother, Grandmother, and the worlds best cook"

Cannon took time of work to spend with his family and to take the load of trying to learn how to cook.

The Cotters - Silas Cotter

Cannon and Summer's 2nd child was born, Elyse Cotter. She was very spritely and had a very comforting presence. Cannon knew his parents end were soon approaching so he organised a photo with his parents, Gabe and his children.

Collen as per usual wasn't overly thrilled but she sucked it up as she could see what it meant for Cannon. Silas was proud to be with his son and grandchildren.

Not too soon after this photo was taken Silas passed away. 2am the grim reaper came and took Silas away. Cannon was the first to see him, he was horrified and developed a fear of death.

The family decided to put his grave by his garden. His headstone read,

"Silas Cotter. Father, Grandfather. May he be his true self above"

The family mourned for him for days.

Even Collen visited her estranged ex husband in the dead of night. In a weird way she was going to miss him. She did love it when he came into the kitchen with an armful of carrots. His bed in the room she shared with him is now empty and she actually felt a little alone.

The Cotters - Gabriel & Charles

For days after Collen and Silas' confessions, Silas couldn't stop thinking about children. He loved seeing Cannon grow up and was almost a little sad he didn't have more children of his own. Collen was firm on her stance of having one child, Silas respected her decision. He decided he was going to adopt. He asked everyone in the house prior and converted an old reading room upstairs into a bedroom.

On a random Tuesday Silas came home with Gabriel.

Gabriel was the oldest boy at the orphanage. Silas immediately noticed how charismatic he was. Gabe is a social butterfly but very studious. The two came home and everyone immediately adored him. Silas showed him his garden and apple trees and the workshop bench he occasionally makes furniture to sell. Gabe was fond of the garden.

Charles aged up to an infant. Summer was loving motherhood. She spent most of her time teaching Charles to talk and encouraged his crawling around. He loved pumpkin and wouldn't really eat anything else.

Not too long after Charles' aging up, Summer fell pregnant. Cannon was thrilled to hear about his 2nd child.

The Cotters - Separation & a new addition

A few days after the wedding, on an average Sunday morning Collen and Silas sat down together. They both had heartbreaking news to share. Confessions to share before their time was up.

For years Collen had been very unhappy and felt very unloved by Silas. From the start of their marriage Collen never received any affection, Silas was normally out with his friends. He never smiled the way he did at them with her. Collen distracted herself with her friends, she was extraverted. She never really had much liking towards motherhood, she was too lazy to care much. Travis used to come around a lot, more and more it became less to see Cannon and more to see her. They began to have an affair.

Silas never really had much love for his wife. They had a convenient arrangement that suited Silas. He could garden and work on his woodworking in peace. Silas had one friend, a friend called Michael. He loved him immensely. Silas only ever truly felt love towards him throughout his life and when he passed Silas was alone. He started looking for companionship with other men but he could never pluck up the courage until Travis confessed his smitteness for Silas.

The estranged marriage turned into a very bitter separation. They also felt betrayed by Travis, they thought they were special to him. Silas and Collen began to have festering grudges towards each other. Cannon felt like he was living in a warzone, that was until the birth of their firstborn grandchild.

Charles Cotter the firstborn of Summer and Cannon seemed to put Collen and Silas' rage at ease. They adored him very much.

The Cotters - Cannon and Summer's rushed wedding

Everyone agreed collectively that Summer should move into the Cotter's household before a wedding. Especially since she announced her pregnancy.

The couple were thrilled for their first born child. Silas was incredibly happy to have a grandchild, however Collen felt differently. Collen insisted they fast forward their wedding. The couple were reluctant at first but agreed with Collen's demands.

The couple were wed at the local church. The only that people could make it was Cannon's parents and Travis. Liberty did also initially show, but she was too heartbroken to attend.

Summer was thrilled, this was a dream for her. Cannon was also happy but definitely didn't share Summer's level of enthusiasm.

The Cotters - Summer and Cannon's engagement

Cannon immediately set aside his feelings for Liberty and quickly put his sights on Summer. He had recently started a career in law, aiming to hopefully climb to the rank of a public prosecutor. The money he earned that didn't go towards bills, he used for a simple ring. After a month Cannon invited Summer around and told her to meet him in the backyard.

Right by the garden swing, Cannon got on one knee. Summer was taken aback, speechless. Thrilled at the proposal Summer nods furiously. The two start planning their lives together and Summer's immanent moving in. However first Cannon needs to let his parents know.

As soon as Collen woke up from her afternoon nap, Cannon tells his parents to met him in the reading room. We he breaks the news, Silas and Collen are thrilled their only child is engaged. Silas is chuffed thinking of his family hopefully soon expanding. He even suggests Cannon invites Summer over for a dinner to celebrate the engagement.

Despite Summer being around since she was a child, Silas and Collen never fully got to know her. Collen had made a foragers stew with the vegetables Silas had grown in his garden this summer. Collen sat not talking and being fairly cold towards Summer, even making a comment on Summers lack of readiness for being a wife. Silas glared at his wife before talking to Summer to hopefully make her feel somewhat welcome. Summer got Silas' approval for moving in the day of marriage. Cannon sat glad at least his father liked Summer and approved. He did feel slight dread about the upcoming day though.

The Cotters - Cannon Cotter tries "courting"

Now that Cannon is a young adult his parents suggest trying to meet someone to carry on the family linage. Cannon has never been overly interested in dating due to being avoidant with any interaction with anyone close. He grew up with neighborhood friends, Summer, Liberty and Travis. They came over frequently in the afternoons after Collen had done her daily baking.

Cannon had always had slight feelings towards Liberty but she never seemed interested. She would always talk about the studies she had read about, Cannon was happy to listen. Heeding his parents advice he asks Liberty to have a picnic in the park.

The two talked for hours and at one point got very close. However Liberty never obviously showed her interest with Cannon beyond friendship.

After their time together was over Cannon went home feeling slightly defeated. His parents asked what he had gotten up to that day, he said he just saw a friend.

Later that night Cannon was up thinking about the women in his life he could see himself with. The only woman he could actually see himself with and would be suitable was Summer. Cannon knew there was a new art exhibit happening at the local museum. He was going to ask her in the morning.

The next morning Summer and Cannon headed to the museum and walked around seeing various art and objects from across America and Europe. Summer and Cannon have always been close right from childhood. Cannon talked away and Summer was happily listening. She had always had feelings towards Cannon and was thrilled when he has asked her to accompany him out.

The outing had gone well, they ended their time together with a brief kiss.

The Cotters

We start this Sims4 legacy decade challenge with the Cotter Family.

The heir Cannon Cotter lives with his two elderly parents, Silas and Collen Cotter.

Growing up Silas and Collen were never close and married more out of convince than love. They conceived one child, Cannon. Collen and her son were never overly close, she spent most of her time cooking or reading by the fire. Silas on the other hand adored his only child. Silas spent much time especially in retirement gardening and harvesting vegetables for Collen's many recipes (the only time they truly cooperated).

The family own a modest plot of land with a 2 bedroom villa.
