An interaction none of us could ever predict happening.

it is very important that you know that "maybe the real ginger ale was the soulmates we made along the way" might be the best tag I have ever read
(re: this)
Thanks anon! On the real, I love wrestling because you can get feelings about the dumbest things, and kayfabe totally makes space for these ridiculous things to have real emotional weight.
Like, as you said, a guy refusing to call something that is obviously beer ‘beer’ and insisting that it’s ginger ale, possibly because it was an inside joke with his best dude:
Or a man breaking down in tears of joy after being given a new novelty glowing plastic miniature scythe; his first novelty glowing plastic miniature scythe having been cruelly destroyed:
These pants, worn by best wrestler in the world, who’s playing the ace of a fictional wrestling promotion in a film. The pants are a tribute to the real-life Ace of New Japan:
The obvious internal conflict on the face of a respected and talented young member of a rival faction, upon being offered an air guitar by a wrestling legend:
Or one last really dramatic high five:
This thing:
Or, of course, solemn fistbumps for the ghost of a dear friend’s tragically slain stuffed cat:
All of the things in this post happened in a language I don’t speak or understand. And yet all of these things, if you allow them to, make you care more about these wrestlers and their matches; give you real connection to the characters and the people playing them. I’ll never understand dudebro wrestling fans’ obsession with not getting worked.
Get worked, you guys. Get worked often and thoroughly. Otherwise it’s all just fake.
