Hello hello welcome to my obscure ship blog lol--

So, I am not someone who has watched the movie, but I like the premise; I have also noticed a scene in which the protagonist boy (I forgot his name) has to catch Boone, and I am here sitting and asking myself if that was necessary? I mean, it is probably nice gesture, but...

What I will be speaking about is that being smaller is way better than being large due to the square-cube law. Basically, as you're smaller, any area in your body drops quadratically, but your volume, and with it mass, drops cubically. So, the smaller you are, the larger is your area-mass ratio and the less pressure you do.

My assuptions are that Boone and Bear are about 1/20 the size of a normal human. This is off the poster and I am aware this may be overestimating them. Anyways, this would make them 8000x lighter, in the range of grams (or tenths of ounces). But here's the deal. Being smaller would reduce their terminal velocity (the fastest they can fall in the atmosphere) 4 times. Sure, in that scene they probably were far from it, but what helps is that even if humans and ...miniatures fell to the ground under the exact same conditions, the "miniatures" would experience 20x less pressure. So yeah, they'd be fine. At least as far as calculations go.
