Randomly remembered that Klaus Hargreeves exists, and well, look who's opening AO3 now…
“But Snape—” I don’t care! I will always love that man no matter what.
I love Lockhart because he reminds me of a sim that’s just started a kitchen fire and doesn’t know what to do about it.
Stop trying to profit off of your fanfiction! I am genuinely so tired of this conversation coming up time and time again. If you go into writing fanfiction with the intention of making a profit, pack it up, buddy. You have every right to be proud of your work and deserve to have it recognized and seen by its intended audience, but your payment for writing fanfiction will be in the form of likes, shares, and positive comments, not money.
Even if you are taking personal requests, you can not profit from them. You should be writing fanfiction for your own personal love of it, and if you choose to post what you write, consider it an act of service to the fandom, not a lucrative business idea.
These characters do not belong to you; therefore, you are not allowed to profit from them. The only way for fanfiction to be legal is for it to be free because of fair use. You can only publish your writing and profit from it if it’s an original piece of writing. Yes, I am well aware that there have been cases of fanfiction being published, but more often than not, those stories have to go under major editing, name changes, location changes, etc.
So, for the love of the fanfiction gods, please stop trying to monetize your fanfiction! Not only will it not work in your favor, but none of us want to deal with the creators of the media we like to write fanfiction for, cracking down on the fanfiction community; it will suck for all of us, both readers and writers alike.
— Sincerely, Your Local Fanfiction Author & Reader
I know I was born with most of my problems, but I will still find a way to blame the fanfiction writer curse every time.
I don’t wanna be an adult anymore! I miss being 12 and reading and writing fanfiction until the sun came up on school nights 🥀
Fanfiction writer curse hitting me in ways that got me wondering if writing is really for me 😭
I miss being 11 and listening to x listeners on YouTube to fall asleep at night, but unfortunately, they just don’t hit the way they used to for me, and to make things even worse, so many of them are AI now 💔
Me when it’s time to read fanfiction while taking a scolding hot shower
Newt Scamander would cry if he saw what y’all let AI do to the planet.
How do I transfer the fanfiction writer curse to someone else? I have a very long list of people who deserve this more than me.
When I’m writing fanfiction about a 45-year-old man, so I have to put the divorced dad rock on to get myself in the proper headspace.
“If you read the books—” I DID!!! AND I STILL LIKE HIM!!!
I actually can’t stand how certain grammar is considered AI. Y’all, where do you think the AI learned to use semicolons and em-dashes? HUMANS! Humans invented grammar! Hope this helps!
Why is my Instagram feed filled with ai generated videos of Severus Snape?
Honestly, if it weren’t for things like fanfiction, I probably would have never gotten into reading as a whole or found my love for creative writing. Fandom has always allowed me to express my creativity in ways I often felt like I couldn’t in school, especially since I went to a conservative Christian private school from K-8th grade, where we didn’t really read or write anything that wasn’t about religion or conservative politics in some way. When I got to high school, I went to a public school, which gave me a bit more room to express myself, but I still didn’t get to read much in my English classes because the school was extremely underfunded. So yeah, I might’ve been the only one in my 4th-grade class reading and writing x reader fanfictions on a secret Wattpad account, but I was still reading and writing, and that’s better than not reading or writing at all. I guess my point is, fanfiction can be just as beneficial as books written by published authors.
Do you think Snape would have a potion to cure my chronic illness, weak immune system, and constant nausea 💔😔
