thank for answering the music q! it was so in depth and really cool to read :) i belatedly remembered you've mentioned music in your a/n so I felt kind of silly bc the answer was obv haha. do you maybe have some form of synesthesia? the way you wrote about visualizing color reminded me of it a lot. if you don't mind another music q, I can't remember if it's been mentioned in the story, but what kind of music do you imagine tae in just skin listening to?

ahh, no, don’t feel silly! it’s okay, and actually synesthesia was so interesting to read about. another anon suggested it to me as well after i posted that reply to you, it rly sounds like it might be something along those lines, so thank u for letting me know about that, m’dude :’)

i haven’t rly mentioned it in the story actually. i mentioned he listens to anime osts, lmao, but that’s all. tbh, irl his style is rly smooth and jazzy and classy, but in js he’s definitely more kinda quirky n nerdy w his music style. i’d say he’s still rly into his indie artists, likes finding new ppl on soundcloud that no one else has heard of before, lovs an underdog w a guitar, y’know. he’d also have popular stuff on his playlists too tho, like western artists and epik high and stuff. i don’t think he’d be too into the idol music scene in this, but that’s not to say he wouldn’t enjoy a bit of rv or smth lmao.

i’m sorry i don’t have any actual songs. that’s something i might consider doing? making “tae’s playlist” and “yoon’s playlist”. recently tho i discovered sleeping at last’s album “atlas: space” and i think that’s smth tae would go fuckin wild for.

How do you start and practice writing?

oh man, u rly ask that big questions don’t you?? :’) i’m not sure how good this’ll be, but i’ll try to help!

start small. try drabbles or single scenes to get comfy w the process of actually writing stories. you’re never gonna write a 50k chaptered fic on your first writing attempt, y’know? and even if you do, it’s unlikely to be very good, but that’s okay. the more u write, the better you’ll get.

start simple. i would say to avoid smut bc a lot of people find that difficult to write. stick with fluff and more basic stuff. work with what you know, like a high school/college/domestic setting, or whatever you think will be easiest for you to write. think about the kind of books you read the most and maybe write something in that genre.

don’t delete things. save everything and keep it stored. even if you think it sucks now, you might not in a little while, or you may come back at some point and find that it’s something you can build on. if you don’t want to keep things on your computer, try google drive or dropbox or something.

read. read fic, read books, poetry, song lyrics. even watching movies and shows and listening to music. just consuming media is really important to keep your ideas fresh, i think.

make your own inspiration. when you’ve hit a rut with a fic or you’re just starting out with a fic, make playlists or moodboards to, like, fuel your own creativity. it’s a great help with writers block, that kinda stuff, because it takes you away from the writing without taking you away from the story, y’know?

understand there’s a cycle. you’re going to have periods where you just can’t write. inspiration isn’t available on tap, but it isn’t finite either. you definitely will run out of inspiration, but you gotta accept that just means it’s time for a break and the inspo will grow back. i’ve gone a whole year without writing before and it was awful for me, but the inspiration eventually came back. i guess u gotta have patience with yourself that way.

be patient. learning to write is just like learning to draw. there are a tonne of skill you need to learn and it takes a lotta work to get good, but if you want to, you can. don’t be disheartened when you’re not brilliant in a couple weeks because that’s unlikely to happen if you’re just starting out. keep working at it and be patient with yourself and you’ll do just fine, dude.

ahh, i hope that was in some way helpful for u, anon. tbh, my methods of practicing and stuff are so far from perfect, i’m not rly qualified to give advice, but a lot of writing is about finding your own rhythm. anyway, feel free to ask any other questions, dear, i hope ur havin a gr8 day <333

You talked about D/s, so I wonder what your take on dom yoongi is. I noticed that it's super popular in the fandom, definitely the preferred dynamic in several otps. Tbh I kinda struggle to picture him as a dom. Lol I am not crazy about babyboy yoongi either but I definitely like him as a sub a lot more. Especially with jimin (holy fuck you are one of us too I'm screaming) and hoseok (dom hoseok is so underrated and I want to cry). Oh! And what about Jk? I see a lot of sub Jk enthusiasts around.

i did talk about D/s, but in general, i’m like. not a fan. always. of that concept. i think people forget that D/s is a kink and not necessarily present in all relationships. but ANYWAY, that is rly not what you asked abt at all, i’m sorry :’)

umm.. so, yeah, i’m a fan of bottom yoongi. that’s rly my main preference with yoon. i like him equally as a dom and a sub in that role. as a top, i prefer him as a dom, while i prefer sub top tae, for example. it’s not hard for me to picture him as a dom? he is a soft boy, but does have a certain commanding, quiet strength to him and he likes control a whole helluva lot irl, so i prefer to characterise him that way in fic, too. with yoonmin tho, YES, i see where you’re coming from. my lov for dom jim wins over my lov for dom yoon any day tbh. hoseok, though, not so much for me?? i see yoonseok as super switchy, in both power dynamics and bot/top stuff.

jungkook. i am a fan of sub jungkook, i must say. but i also majorly see the appeal of dom kook, too, depending on how he’s otherwise characterised. he’s another epic switchy boy for me tbh. i wrote him in a smut scene for the first time rly recently and he was a lotta fun tbh. he’s a good boy.

but anyway, yeah, at the end of the day, ig it all comes down to ur personal preferences, and whatever they are, they’re okay, as long as ur reasonable about how u express them lmao :’)

do you listen to music when you write? or does music inspire your writing at all? your writing has this really lovely atmosphere I can't quite explain why but it has that very distinctive notion of sound to it.

this is one of the strangest and loveliest comments i’ve gotten about my writing tbh. what i listen to and the atmosphere i’m in is actually rly important to me while i’m writing, so i’m kinda cryin over the fact that you noticed :’)

so, with the music, it’s weird bc the music i usually choose for fic is the kinda stuff i would rarely have on my own personal playlists?? a lot of the time, i will find a song, somehow, that just feels like what i want my fic to feel and look like and i kinda get… like colours off a song sometimes?? so, for example, “get you good” by roy woods is a super purple song for me, and the album “zaba” by glass animals, most of those of these songs gave me like neon purple, blue, green, orange vibes……. i sound crazy, i know, but. anyway. when i write listening to those songs, in my head i can kinda see the scene that i’m writing sort of bathed in that colour?? which is why it’s important for me when i’m setting a mood, i guess??

for most dialogue-heavy scenes, i don’t listen to anything, but smut/club scenes/rly any scene with less dialogue, i’ll listen to something and often it’ll be just one song over and over, so that the mood stays consistent. if i mention a song in the author’s notes on an ao3 work, then u can p much bet ur ass i had that on repeat the whole time i was writing the scene/chapter. for the whole fuckin 19k of old habits pt. 1, for example, i had the stripped version of “cocoa hooves” by glass animals playing non-stop. for 3 weeks. 3 weeks. it was the ONLY song that created the right vibe for me.

so, i mentioned “zaba” by glass animals, but recently lorde seems to have taken over from that. “melodrama” album gives me all these washed out blue n pink vibes that i rly love. i also gravitate towards hozier for emo/smut scenes and sometimes hot sugar?? bc their stuff is intrumental, but still chill, it rly suits some scenes where i want a vibe, but also need to focus.
