Far too many people are looking for the right person, instead of trying to be the right person.
Gloria Steinem (via wordsnquotes)
Find someone who loves you well. Someone who never belittles you. Even in the heat of an argument. Someone who is gentle with you, but does not treat you like you are fragile. Someone who knows what you are capable of, and celebrates those pieces of you. Not someone who is intimidated by your strength. Someone who doesn’t make you feel guilty for being flawed. It is not love’s job to punish you. And remember the person you love is just as broken as you are when they fall short. No one is perfect – do not hold them to this standard. Find someone who is patient, forgiving, and apologetic. Someone who practices forgiveness freely and often. Love someone who is humble, kind, and empathetic. Not only with you, but with a beggar on the street, or a stranger in the supermarket. Common courtesy is important. Compassion is important. Kindness is important.

I’ve healed, but I haven’t forgotten.
I still get angry at the thought that I gave you so much of me and I got nothing in return. That I gave one person so much of myself and all I wanted was to receive that love right back. Instead, I was taken for granted, and was only there at your own personal convenience.
I will always wish you the best in life. I have accepted that no one will ever take your place in my life and in my heart. I’ve healed and I’ve moved on, but I’ll never forget. I do hope that you’ll change for the better, and be better for the person who is best for you.
You deserve someone who loves you with every single beat of [their] heart, someone who thinks about you constantly, someone who spends every minute of every day just wondering what you’re doing, where you are, who you’re with, and if you’re OK. You need someone who can help you reach your dreams and protect you from your fears. You need someone who will treat you with respect, love every part of you, especially your flaws. You should be with someone who could make you happy, really happy, dancing on air happy.

I never realized what a big deal that was. How amazing it is to find someone who wants to hear about all the things that go on in your head.

Wake up and open your curtains. Your windows too.
Drink some tea or coffee, whatever pleases you. Notice every sip.
Have some fresh fruit and finish breakfast feeling full.
Stand outside and feel the air. Cool or warm, it will make you feel real.
Get some exercise. Yoga to soothe, running to breathe, lifting for strength.
Take care of your body. Have a nice shower and pamper as much as you want afterward.
If you’re going to work, remember you have the chance to make anyone’s day or to ruin it. Act accordingly.
Weed out the bad language. It’s only creating tension in your body and mind. Kind words are infinitely more appreciated.
Take some time each day to improve your mind. Keep reading that great book. Listen to an incredible piece of music. Practice an instrument or a skill. The progress is its own reward.
Pictures will help you remember how wonderful life is. But spend less time on your phone and more time seeing the world face to face.
Go to sleep knowing that you have done well. Tomorrow is there with room to become even better.
-Notes to myself on how to become a better person this summer.
perfect couple: one person has cold hands, the other has warm hands. together, they maintain the ideal temperature for hand holding
