It may seem silly to some because I’m actually dedicating a post to her... but if you were there for my GLEE fan girl days then you already KNOW that Santana Lopez/ @nayarivera was my absolute FAVORITE 💔 (I still have my Santana cardboard cutout and her autograph up in my room to this day) I was lucky enough to have seen her at San Diego Comic-Con back in 2010, heard her sing live at the Glee Tour, met her TWICE, at the Glee 3D Movie Premiere in LA in 2011, and years later in 2016 for her book signing event. I have so many hilarious stories and memories about these events. But it will always be one of the highlights of my life that I was able to have a small conversation with her despite being so nervous and starstruck. I cringe at how I was in this video but... How else was I supposed to act in front of one of someone who I have admired for YEARS?? 😅😂 but you can see a small glimpse of how funny, sweet, and kind she was in that small exchange that we shared. I’m just one of the many fans around the world grieving over this HUGE loss. I may have not known her personally, but she inspired me with her amazing voice, incredible acting ability, and unmatched wit that she showed on screen. #GLEE AND especially #NayaRivera hold a part of my life and I’m forever grateful and thankful for the laughs, top tier performances, and friendships (OT5/ GSG) that stemmed from that. Thank you, Naya. You truly were a special gem in this world and I’ll miss you terribly along with everyone else. Yes, I’m still so heartbroken, devastated, and sad. So I’ll be here crying and listening to Glee songs/ rewatching Glee for the next few days if you need me. https://www.instagram.com/p/CCrJDG7gFaF/?igshid=1dmqedj4fzeds
IN MEMORY OF NAYA RIVERA
Naya Rivera was a mom, a sister, a daughter. She was an actress, a singer, a writer, a model. She was a latina woman who went through a lot in this life. She was always vocal and open about important issues such as homophobia, racism, toxic relationships, sexism, motherhood, abortion. Her character in Glee was probably one of the most influential and important representations for the LGBTQ+ community and she always talked about how Santana was important for young LGBT people and how proud she was for being able to represent something good. If Santana ever helped you, Naya was so proud of that and of you. She changed lives.
Thank you, Naya. You’ll be remembered and missed.
When this is over, may we never again take for granted the simple things in life. Coffee with friends. A Friday night at a concert. A handshake with a stranger. Time spent with your grandparents. Hugging those you love most. Conversations with your neighbors. The morning commute. Going to school every week. Full shelves at the store. A typical Tuesday night. Life itself. These times can be challenging, but may we allow ourselves to slow down and reflect on what matters most. Once the dust settles and the light shines brighter, may we find that we have become the people we have wanted to be, who we always hoped we would be, and may we all be better for each other having gone through the unimaginable. In this crisis, hold on to love, hope, and empathy. That is my wish - that we are left with and experiencing more love and humanity during and after all this.
Big if true
i took a philosophy class my first year at community college, and it was the funnest shit ever - prof gave us a powerpoint and told us to fight with him when we disagreed so we could have discussions, then gave us his steam username so we could play racing games together. one time, he told us this story about a prof he had in grad school - guy was tenured, and apparently a great teacher. but he had this time built into his schedule where other profs would be in labs, experimenting, doing research, where he stood in his empty classroom with a warm cup of tea and stared out the window. for these 1.5 hour schedule blocks. and the administration would come to him and be like “dude, we’re not paying you to stare out the window, why aren’t you working?” and he’d say, “i am working. i’m a philosopher, it’s my job to contemplate the world and life and that’s what I’m doing,” and they couldn’t do shit cause he was tenured. and then every handful of years he’d pop out a book that blew everybody’s tits off and they’d get a surge of new philosophy grads come to study with him and make the school a lot of money.
So yeah, i think that’s still what being a philosopher is like
we will always be your family 💕

im very grateful for the lessons in photography i was taught in stop motion class because just now they made it possible to photograph the stars with my phone in spite of the camera usually not detecting the light of stars because theyre so dim,,,, enjoy these shiny motherfuckers
ok so if everythings normal, your phone camera should have a manual mode (sometimes called pro mode). in it, change the settings of the shutter lag to 20 seconds, then put the phone down on some stable, plane surface and press the photo button (usually when using your camera, the volume buttons can be used as photo button) and let the phone still for the whole 20 seconds.
(basically the problem with most cameras is that they dont have a very good light sensitivity in the dark, however that doesnt mean they cant detect it at all. the longer the shutter is open, the more light your camera takes in and the more burnt/light your pic will be, so in (literally) dark situations, make the shutter lag longer to get all that light you need! also i said 20 seconds but really you can make it shorter or longer depending on what kinda stuff you want for your stars)
Yes this!
Additionally, adjust your ISO to the highest number (mimics the film used for very low light and low speed images)
And set your shutter speed to the longest time possible (on my phone it’s 10 seconds).
Leave your focus settings on Auto, and if your phone camera has a timer option, turn that on (five seconds is generally enough).
Plan your shot first, then find a place to set your phone down so you can get the image you want. The less light pollution, the better; you’ll pick up FAR more stars in your picture.
Once you know what you want to shoot, tap your screen to “focus” it, then hit the button to take the picture, set your phone down, and back away from the “tripod”. Don’t touch your phone for a good 15 seconds, just to be sure.
You will not be disappointed in the results, let me assure you.
Not even a little bit.
