been watching a few analysis videos of classic era creepypastas and i need every aspiring sonic.exe creator to understand that your story/exe having 'cheese' is not a bug, its a feature. an important load-bearing aspect if you will.

Honestly I don't really care much for OMT. Sure, the repixeled game is extremely well animated, but it just kinda feels sauceless. It doesn't feel like it does anything more interesting than "what if Sonic.exe was a Lumpy Touch animation and didn't even have a hint of subtlety"

Talking about nothing again, BUT, using this as a small springboard to talk about just why I think OMT misses the mark, at least for me. A bunch of others, too I think, because being honest, I hear this opinion literally everywhere. It's not as controversial as I think people make it out to be, but whatever. I speak.

Sonic.Exe was meant to scare kids. It was a scary story turned game that looked like Sonic, but then boom! Blood, scary, rahhh play my game!

I think when you make an EXE game that immediately just GORE FLASHES you, it loses the charm of spooking you out. I know the games don't have to do that anymore because of what sonic.exe has become, but the charm comes from the offputting-ness of the game that then becomes horror. In my opinion. Like, what regular kid would stare at the screen after the opening of omt and keeps playing? There is no bait to the game unless you are looking for gore, which is chill, but as the essence of Sonic exe? It skips that.

This may be a controversial opinion, but I don't think Sonic.exe media should take the underdeveloped horror palettes of stupid zoomer creepypasta kiddies into account ever. If your reasoning for calling OMT or any exe story bad boils down to "oh its gorey with no subtlety or real story and/or kids in the fanbase wont like it" then I think you've lost the plot, because thats what the original story was founded on, and its what makes Sonic.exe really good.

I like when exes have lore and stories, but to paraphrase John Carmack when asked about his opinions on games having stories/complex plots; Its like porn having a plot, its nice when its there but its not neseccary.

the fact that sega's steam store doesnt have unleashed, one of the best sonic games, but has fuckin' sonic colors ultimate is really telling.

last bit of IDW haterism for tonight i promise but lanolin's stupid ass skepticism of sonic only vaguely makes sense (if venus is also in retrograde) because ian flynn writes sonic as if he's some fuckass marvel superhero and not a funny blue hedgehog who loves adventure and getting a bump of adrenaline

I'm not joking when I say that literally every problem I have with the IDW Sonic comic would mostly solved if Ian Flynn and the other IDW writers wrote the actual canon characters accurately to their personalities that they've had in the games for like two and half fucking decades.
