Yanbaru Whiskered Bat Myotis yanbarensis
It is known only from three islands of the Ryukyu Archipelago, south of Japan, Okinawa (where the Yanbaru forest is situated), Amami Ōshima, and Tokunoshima. The species has been classified as Critically Endangered by the IUCN.

Small Mauritian flying fox
Engraving from 1763
The Small Mauritian Flying Fox, Pteropus subniger, went extinct in the 1860's (according to the IUCN Redlist). Its relative the Mauritian Flying Fox, Pteropus niger, is currently endangered and faces attacks from humans (see this National Geographic Article).
