That is a fine specimen, for a human-like lifespan. It rather depends on the nymph. I've known flower nymphs who last less than a century, like your grandfather. There was a river nymph, though, from back home, they were several thousand years old and had hardly reached their middle age.

Yes, that's me. It is mainly bogs. They all belong to the same family, that is wetlands, but they have important differences, largely in plant life and nutrient richness. Regardless, bogs are far and away the most interesting of them all.

It existed before I did and, hopefully, will continue to exist after I'm gone. While that is what I would consider my "original" bog, when I say a bog is mine I mean less that I have ownership over it and more that it is under my protection.

So great news. I’ve got a duck pond. Bad news, this plant grew by it, and it bit me while I was trying to weed the flowerbeds. So either this is my Poison Ivy era origin story, or a PSA to watch out for the weird carnivorous plants that are, apparently, indigenous to the area.
I'm familiar with these particular beasties. You're very lucky that its paralytic didn't get you, otherwise you would have been quite the meal. I would suggest offering it a steak as a distraction and then exposing it to direct sunlight. That won't kill it, mind you, but will slow it down.
