Hello. Hope this ask doesn’t come across as weird or anything, just thought I would send it. I haven’t thought about RWBY for years, but I recently remembered this blog/the blog owner since, surprisingly enough, I saw a post about Ad/m? Anyway, it reminded me of when you had some of the funniest posts about him and how much I liked your presence in the rwby community (at when I was active in it). Decided to check this blog again and I’m happy you’re still running it, even if less actively (understandable since the hiatus has been.. a bit). Hope V10 comes out soon and you get more Qrow. Miss that guy. Cheers and thank you for the laughs over the years.

my wife [the animated webseries rwby] is away at war [the hiatus] and she almost died in an ambush [rooster teeth shut down] but she survived [viz media picked it up] and they're letting her come home [vol 10 is being written] but the journey is long and perilous [animation takes a really long time] so i don't know when i'll see her again [no vol10 release date] and if she'll still be the same after all that she went through [i dont know how viz operates and that scares me a bit]

the reason why i think pretty much all rwby rewrite projects suck ass is bc they fail to recognize how rwby (as a franchise in all its iterations) is SUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH a product of its time(s) and very very very specific circumstances, and even with all its writing flaws/quirks in both past and present it's like . impossible to criticize any of it properly without taking its whole history into consideration? AND! HOW THAT COUNTS FOR THE REALLY GOOD SHIT TOO!!! like everything that makes rwby what it is — AS A WHOLE — is the result of over a decade's worth of insanity and pure creative drive and talent and stupidity and bravery and corporate greed and drama and THE INTERNET.......

and like. You Can't Change That. you can pick apart as many elements as you want from the story/worldbuilding/characters/art alone to try to warp into your own idea of a better product, but what rwby /actually/ is and was, its /core identity/, CAN'T be divorced from any of its batshit real-world contexts. no matter how you feel about it, you have to acknowledge that writing quality has always just been the tip of the iceberg 💀 there's literally just nothing else like rwby, no other ip has suffered the exact rwby Experience. and tbh that might be what i respect about it the most. it's a miracle it ever even grew to the size it did lol

over the years i've rlly just come to the conclusion that rwby is best understood if you treat it like a big collaborative experimental art project. really strong conceptual premise, lots of passion, and then years and years and years of so many different people adding onto it, exploring it, growing it — but rarely to the extent/in the exact way the team wanted — all of that's inarguable. it is what it is, and it's kinda fuckin crazy, but it's not something you can simply judge on a surface level............ and that's honestly a shame!!!! bc it makes it a really hard show to talk about </3
