GENERAL NOTES: This time babyyyy, I'll beeeeee bulletproooof. Also, I'm sorry if I'm butchering the format.  Please forgive me. Sorry this is horribly late. 

[ ALTHEA PORTER:] 

It was truly embarrassing, picking up all the different items that had fallen on the floor. Even though she was presumably by herself, she looked and felt a mess. What an unsuccessful first day. Probably the most unsuccessful first day of term in the history of Althea Porter's short life. Still, she tried. That's what was going to count right now. That she she tried. 

But then, to add insult to injury, someone was there. 

The clearing of their throat thankfully didn't make Althea jump and drop the items she had picked up already. Quickly, she made swift work of a sewing charm that fixed the bottom of her bag, Althea practically shoveled the rest of her items in it, just wanting to get organized. It was embarrassing for someone to see her like this, so..disheveled.

Finally, she looked up to see who it was finding that she only knew him by name. Amycus Carrow. Slytherin. Seventh Year. Presumably a supporter of Tom Riddle, but she didn't know. Althea knew how Pureblood's that weren't blood traitorous like her family were, pushed their kids into a life that they may or may not have wanted. She'd keep an open mind for now, though she was never really good at that. Still. Benefit of the doubt, she'd give him the benefit of the doubt. 

"I'm assuming you heard me before you saw me then." she asked, while getting up from the floor. Althea dusted herself off, and gave him a small smile, extending her hand even if he wasn't close enough to take it at the moment. "Althea Porter. Occasional klutz."

"Words, use your words. From what I’ve heard, coherency is an admirable trait." The blonde huffed as she waited for the brunette’s response. "I need you to vouch for me where McGonagall is concerned. A Ravenclaw grassed me up about something, you need to reassure that I’m not the type." Her eyes flickering down to Thea’s tie, a mischievous smile tugged at her lips. "You’re a prefect too, that’ll help."

Already, Althea didn't like the other girl's attitude towards her. Still, she didn't want to instigate anything. "But how could I reassure her, if I don't know you. I'm not going to help you lie to McGonagall if that's what you're asking."

Lucius looked up and raised a brow. He had no idea who this girl was, which was strange seeing as how Lucius was pretty sure he at least knew most of the people in the castle at least by face. He smoothened his robes and frowned. 

"I really don’t think that statement applies to this current situation." He said before glancing down at her necktie. Oh. He couldn’t help the roll of his eyes and the grumble of irritation. Brilliant. A Gryffindor.

Lucius really wasn’t in the mood for this.

"But I do not have the time nor the patience to needlessly debate on that, so if you would just step aside." He said, tilting his head slightly to the side in boredom.

The more she looked at him, the more she realized who exactly it was. Lucius Malfoy. Seventh Year. Slytherin. In Pureblood society, she knew of his family to be of high ranking. Since her family had totally rejected those ideals since the dawn of time practically, it seemed, she did not interact with him much. Thankfully. 

Althea was technically branded a blood traitor.

"It does." she countered, when she saw his eyes drift towards her tie -- as well as his reaction to it. It seemed that they'd be upholding his house prejudices today.

"I'd be more inclined to, if you asked nicely." Althea said, standing her ground. It was pointless, really, but she did anyways.

Godric, Ally, it was merely a quip. But now that I think about it, this could be the only time I’d ever have a chance to be featured on the front page of The Daily Prophet and I can’t have my grandchildren think their grammy was uncivilized and didn’t know what a comb was when I have it framed.

I can’t speak for everyone but, first of all, I’m hungry. Second, missing dinner is only going to lead me to wanting to sneak out to the kitchens later on and I don’t want to get detention if ever I get caught. Lastly, starving myself is not going to accomplish anything but a grumbling stomach. So eat up and maybe later we can send a complaint to the Ministry of Magic about keeping the politicians out of school, hmm?

You know...here I was hoping you'd finally stop using that nickname. Maybe that you'd grow out of it over summer but I see that you haven't. I doubt your grandchildren are going to be reading that and looking for their grammy in it, or your hair. They'll be reading about Tom Riddle. You know the politician that just ever so kindly insinuated that mass g e n o c i d e was the perfect solution to all of our economic problems.

Yes, yes, that's what I keep hearing. Everyone's hungry. But after that? I'm not even close to being hungry. I was before, but now I'm not. Well, you can continue eating, but I think I'll even start on that letter right now.

Ah, yes. It was quite lovely to see you there, my dear. Crete was one of the most majestic places to see the sunrise. A happy choice made by Fate, I reckon, for both our mothers to come from a place so tranquil.

Well, of course I'm eager, Sybill! Why wouldn't I be? And no, see, I'm not really as talented as you are in Divination so to me, it would be practically...gibberish. I think your effort shows in everything, really. But to answer your previous question, people need them because well, have you been paying attention to the political climate? Any insight into the future would be great. Well, not just great, absolutely vital. 

I'll admit... it was nice to see a face from Hogwarts. It's beautiful there, I wish I could go more.

      [ Althea looks down at her robes and realizes that she’s wearing Lily’s Head Girl badge, along with some of her robes as evidenced by loose strands of Lily’s red hair on the shoulders. How on Earth did she switch robes with Lily Evans? Who isn’t even in her dorm! Maybe after the prefect meeting? ]

…I have no clue how that — even — [ Althea scrambles to take off Lily’s outer -robes, and hands it over. Now, she’s just in her Hogwarts uniform. Then, something occurs to her. ]

GENERAL NOTES: I like to name my paras after songs and I'm listening to La Roux, so. 

[ALTHEA PORTER:]

It was a want -- no, a need to get to Mr. Riddle. Althea Porter needed to get to him, question him, something. All she wanted was to tap into that mind of his, have a discussion. Gage the kind of man he really was. Of course, Althea already had her...assumptions. But, she tried, honest to Merlin did she try, to not judge someone until she had had a proper, honest to good conversation with them. Yes, she usually failed, but no one could say she didn't try. 

This was her motive in trying to run after him, chase his tail right after that speech of his. But, unfortunately, it was to no avail. Once again, she missed a golden opportunity, a chance at talking with the great Tom Riddle. It was almost cruel how she had practically stalked his campaign trail all summer, yet, he had so unexpectedly arrived at her school. If she had known, she would have definitely been waiting for him in the back of the Great Hall. Figures. 

Finally, with her metaphorical tail between her legs, Althea stalked back to the Great Hall, knowing full well a bunch of first years needed assistance and guidance that Althea was obliged to give them. Her legs practically scraped against the castle floor, her head down, when she heard a riiiip! 

"Oh, shit." A bunch of random trinkets had falled out of Althea's leather satchel, much to her disdain. How had the bag even ripped? It was new! "Merlin's beard."

"I suppose everyone has their different views of how things should be," Dorcas began, "But I for one…do not think that that should’ve happened." She let out a soft sigh before saying one last thing. "I hope everyone is doing well."

The other girl looked particularly uncomfortable but Althea could definitely relate. She looked how Althea felt on the inside."I think the difference between having different views and what he said, is that most other people's different views about things don't rival Adolf Hitler's."

"Oi! Fancy doing me a favour?" Calling after a random student, her usual smirk began to pull at the corners of her lips as she attempted to determine how likely she was to get her way.

"I---.." she trailed off. It was her duty to help of course, as a prefect, but she needed to get to class. Still, depending on what the other girl wanted - a Slytherin girl she knew to be particularly beguiling, Althea would either deliver or not. "What is it?"

Well, that was interesting to say the least. What’s a politician like Tom Riddle doing making opening speeches here in school? Was there a photographer around I didn’t know about—because Merlin my hair is a mess—or was he simply here to kindly share his beliefs with the impressionable young minds of Hogwarts?

How very interesting indeed.

—Mmm, this apple tart is delicious.

Mary. Are you really worried about your hair? Seriously?

How is everyone still eating after that! I don't understand! Tom Riddle just swooped into our Great Hall spewing his....beliefs, and everyone's acting like he just came in, talking only about food or something so ordinary.

"Bloody birds. Can they not contain their bowel movement?" Lucius muttered in disgust as he watched his step, carefully making his way out of the feces invested owlery. 

Someone ought to clean that up. 

He let out a grunt in distaste before moving down the steps only run into someone he had yet to recognize. 

"Watch it." He sneered, looking up. He was not in the mood.

Althea had heard a voice while she was on the lower level of the owlery. It wasn't too familiar, but it was familiar enough for her to know that she did not want to talk to them. 

Not one bit. 

Even though she shuffled to get out of his way, she failed. "It takes two to tango." she breathed back with a cool flip of her brown curly hair.
