my name is nova (previously jojo, don’t worry, still me!), I am in my mid-twenties, and I use she / her pronouns. this is my multi-muse blog, consisting primarily of original characters, but with some canon / canon-divergent ones thrown in. this blog is still heavily under construction. [ ♡ ] just a quick little notice of semi-hiatus. I’m super busy with work at the moment and writing tends to be quite hard for me when I’m tired. my days off are few and far between and I’m mentally pressuring myself to write when I’m not in the headspace for it, which is making me miserable. 

I’m still lurking, will happily send memes if anyone wants them, and am available on disco~ if anyone wants to chat or maybe write super-short, low effort stuff.

     ⁚⁛❄  he does bemuse her so. while the concept of a wholesome courtship is hardly beyond her conception, mori’s singular approach to such a thing does. he is well-aware of how she makes a living, yet elects to keep her at a metaphorical arms-length when it comes to matters of the physical. he visits her often, brings with him little gifts or tokens that he thinks she might appreciate. and is always correct - simply because such a gesture already establishes him as a sweet and thoughtful soul. what the gift is hardly matters. 

     she cannot confirm it, but she believes he has also been something of a silent protector. more often than usual, she has noticed last-minute cancellations, unexpected gaps in her ledgers, mysterious strangers seeming more than a little distracted as they stumble through conversation with her. arianna has no idea what it is that he’s doing; but she is absolutely certain that he is doing something.

     and then there’s this; the easy, gentle way in which he woos her. for a man who claims his vocabulary is not his strong suit, mori so often finds exactly the words that she needs to hear. wants to hear. today, for example, it is an assurance that he is willing to listen, to initiate the sweetest of intimacies, even through her continued paranoia that her work disgusts him. a problem of her own making, really. “ I may be too tired for the first, ” arianna admits, unsurprised by the weariness in her voice, “ but I’ll happily take the second. ”

[ ♡ aftermathed​. ]

          “Of course not.” Yan knows this part, on some level. She knows that Lenka is not nearly as frightened as she ought to be. She never has been. Even the first time they met, Lenka was… woefully unconcerned with her own safety. It brings out some fierce desire in Yan, some drive to keep Lenka that way: reckless, unencumbered by the kind of caution that cruelty tends to teach a person. Yan sighs gently. “You could have anyone you wanted, you know. With a pretty face like that.”

     ⁚⁛☀  yan’s unpredictability can mean their conversations tend to wind down paths and through routes that lenka never really expects, but she senses that this one isn’t quite so simple as it was first portrayed. still, the compliment warms her, makes her smile despite the fact that it really doesn’t feel like the point. “ good, ” she says lightly with a shy quirk of her lips. “ 'cause I want you. ” a brief pause, while she tries to gauge yan’s reaction. “ ‘s that okay? ”

     ⁚⁛❄  the raw tenderness in ophelia’s admission has fondness blooming behind arianna’s ribcage, even as she steels her expression against it. “ you’d be a lot happier if you closed your heart to it, ” she sighs truthfully, avoiding ophelia’s gaze because she doesn’t want to see what she knows will be written there. “ I’ve survived for this long, ophelia. ” her voice is firm. understanding, but edged with finality. “ the odds are in my favour, and my gut rarely steers me wrong. I’m fine. ”

     ⁚⁛♔  “ there is a way around that. ” bianca lets her words hang in the air for a long moment, aware that she’s throwing down a gauntlet of rather extreme proportions. she tries to make the offer seem throwaway, entirely casual, as though it’s something she says to each and every one of her friends. he won’t take it. she’s confident of that much. victor is far too selfless, too warm-hearted, too good to even consider what she has dangled before him. too alive, at the crux of the matter. with a mirthless laugh, bianca shakes her head, avoids meeting his eye. “ forgive me, my darling, I have grown far too outspoken in my old age. forget I said anything. ”

     ⁚⁛❄  “ I find it difficult to imagine you in a club, ” arianna muses as she straightens his tie, smooths a tiny piece of lint from his shoulder. work drags him to all kinds of strange and wonderful locations, and yet it is one this innocuous that pushes her to disbelief. “ bars? naturally. pubs? of course. but a club? ” she shakes her head, fondness seeping into her smile as she leans up to press the gentlest of kisses to his lips. “ now, for god’s sake, don’t let jim insist on you staying any longer than you absolutely have to. take yourself somewhere nice once business is concluded, hmm? ”

          “You got it!” Anguish says, lighting up in a huge, pleased grin at the movement of Lenka’s hand. They’re proud of her, of course, endlessly in love with the way she’s trying. It’s one of the things that all of them do, his favourite people, the ones he’s made part of his new little family— they make the effort to understand this part of himself.  They laugh softly, add, fingers following along half out of habit, “Mister big hands, huh?”

     ⁚⁛☀  once upon a time, lenka’s feelings regarding mori’s hands would’ve been her own private business, but she made the fateful mistake a few weeks ago of drunkenly mentioning it to rue. so now, naturally, everybody’s making fun of her in their own little ways. “ stop, ” she says, managing to sign something close to it even as she laughs and blushes. lenka takes one of anguish’s hands in both of her own, turns it over as though musing over some invisible detail. “ I like your hands too, ” she adds quietly, letting her gaze flicker up to meet theirs.

     ⁚⁛❄  “ the world is so very cruel and unfair to you, ” arianna says without too much in the way of sincerity. still, she searches the depths of her makeup bag for a moment, pulling out a small tube of concealer and showing temperance the brand label. “ if you refuse to take the easy option and simply look after yourself, then you’ll need something like this. expensive, heavy, but it does what it must. I like to think of it as industrial grade. ”

Nico smiles, because Bianca remains a light of his life, continues to be one of the more important people of his entire existence. Not that he would state so –– neither are so sappy, but perhaps just dramatic enough for it. “The dinner is a pretense,” he admits, though perhaps that’s not so surprising. Already he’s going through the fabrics, cherry-picking the ones he wishes to start with. He knows her measurements, that won’t be the issue, he just need to see how the drape over her.

     ⁚⁛♔ “ naturally, ” she says lightly, having already figured as much. it is not in nicodéme’s nature to be a poor guest, and thus a gift when arriving unannounced is exactly what decency requires to soften the blow. now that the gift is given, though, it becomes unimportant; a distant second to the fabrics that he has brought as a matter of urgency. “ come, then. parlour. we shall work for our supper, hmm? ”
