Thank you to everyone who signed up to participate in this year’s Trick or Treat. All work is due on 10/31. Writers will post to AO3. Artists and other content creators will post to Tumblr.

The candy buckets are designed to help readers/viewers find content they want to see. You don’t have to rifle through that candy bucket for Kit Kats— we’ve got your Kit Kats right here. Use all the tags you normally would, but add your applicable buckets.

The mods are happy to help you do this, if you need assistance! As an example, if you write a serious Cobb/Saito fic where Saito is a vampire and the events of Inception definitely happened, your AO3 tags might be “Saito (Inception), Dom Cobb, Saito/Cobb, Saito woke up and chose violence, Vampires, Romance, Bucket 8, Bucket 9”

If you still want to participate, you can, but now two things are true: you won’t be able to give input on what the buckets are, and your content will need to fit in one of them. We’d still love it if you filled out a signup sheet, just because Ms. Fine likes numbers. It’s weird, and she won’t apologize.

Periodically (like once a year, when we remember) we put the bat signal out calling all of our new friends home to the chat. IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR

And we’re celebrating just a little bit differently this year.

1. THE GIST

Post a story to the AO3 collection or post other content on Tumblr by 10/31 in your time zone. All pairings (and no pairings) are welcome, as long as your content is Inception related.

Tag your work with the appropriate “treat bucket.” The buckets are listed below. The only real rule is your work needs to fit at least one bucket, and it needs to be tagged with “Bucket X.” For more details, see the pinned post.

Works will be shared from this Tumblr and the collection revealed on Halloween. We’re celebrating through every time zone!

2. THE CHANGES

This year, we’re opening up the Ask function for you to give out prompts from now until 9/30. Want to read it or see it? Don’t want to make it yourself? Ask away, baby. Content creators love ideas.

We’re not taking signups, and we’re listing the buckets up front.

This quick turnaround fandom fest is seeking drabble length fic (500 words or less). Any pairing is ok. There is one and only one requirement: your story must have a happy ending. Don’t put a lot of effort into this— the idea is to release some stress, not make it worse.
