Do people in the MCSM universe have jobs? Like I guess a lot of people in Sky City had jobs but that might just be because of all the rules and organization. And there were some vendors at Endercon and Beacontown, but also it seems like most of the characters are just existing and having fun and going on adventures like you would in regular Minecraft, so why would people have jobs?
Okay but I thought about it and like.
Okay. Minecraft logic. You can make automatic farms, right? But for plants and stuff, bc for animals it’s like… in real life that would be messed up; like imagine making a machine where chickens, the moment they grow to adulthood, get burned alive and cooked. You don’t want that.
So here comes the humane way of just… raising them on a farm, taking your time, etc. But not everyone will wanna do that. Takes too much time, wanna do something else, etc.
So jobs have to exist, bc while this person is off adventuring and that one is off fighting monsters, someone needs to take of the farm animals cus people like meat and milk and eggs, etc. But doing it for free is… okay fair, you can do it, but you still want something in return for spending a good chunk of your time working.
And like… you can probably craft a lot of things realistically, but would you want to?
Like, you can go out, get the items, craft it yourself… or you can just. Buy it. Not to mention that, again realistically, making farms, automatic ones from/with redstone, takes a lot of time and resources. So you spend possibly days gathering, days making, and then some time before it works. When you can just… go to some shop or something.
Like trading exists, so some form of currency probably does too, or everyone just has a book on them that tells them what each item can be traded for and it is still fair.
Plus people don’t like to do nothing. Like, you can take breaks and all, but sooner or later you’ll want to do something. Maybe having a job, even if it’s just selling/trading the wheat you grow in your garden for a few things, is their way of spending time.
Petra trades stuff, and for what? Sure she likes adventure, but what would she do with a diamond when she can just… go get one herself? Easier than getting a wither skull. Maybe she can buy something with it. Who knows.
People probably do have jobs but not on our worlds level, like they get more time off, can go do their own thing easier, etc. They vibe, but they do work; whether by necessity or bc they want to depends. Sometimes working is fun, like painting someone’s house or moving some stuff.
Just had some thoughts I wanted to share

Okay so we saw how Jack reacted to Ivor, but imagine him reacting to the rest of the Old Order when Ivor (inevitably) reunites the remaining members.

Favorite Animals of the New Order:
Jesse: Pigs (obviously) and every other animal is tied for second place.
Olivia: Likes cats and parrots, as long as they stay out of her workspace.
Axel: Do creepers count? Also has an appreciation for llamas.
Lukas: Ocelots and horses for sure.
Petra: Not usually much of an animal person, but would totally have a dog if she wasn’t constantly out on adventures.
Least Favorite Animals:
Jesse: Probably just spiders and guardians. And maybe bats.
Olivia: Bees kinda freak her out.
Axel: Chickens just really annoy him. Squids too.
Lukas: Sheep. Especially in large volumes.
Petra: Cats. And bats. And silverfish.
Jesse: Oh, fiddlesticks.
Petra: Look, I understand this is a tense situation, but let's watch the f***ing language.
Jesse: I think that Xara might be upset with you.
