Thank you for all the wonderful times. They have meant so much to me over the year, but I am now inactive as a part of Cracksmash. I am keeping the blogs for now, but will not be interacting as an official participant of the group. Please unfollow, if you'd like.

*ruffles his hair* Good. Love you. I suppose I should.. well, I could finish the laundry. *smiles*
*closes his eyes as she ruffles his hair* Love you too, sweetheart. *nods* Okay. How about I get out a book. You fold, I read?
I don’t know. You going to sit next to me? *smiles* Laundry, book, little lady has her dog… We’re set, I think.
I was thinking about it. *smiles a little* If you didn’t mind me so close. I’ll pick something we’ll all like. I think Annie already has a thing for Dr. Seuss, personally. *leans over, kissing her on the forehead* Yep, we are.
Well then, she has very good taste. *leans into his kiss, and stands back up, taking a seat back on the couch and returns to folding laundry* I always thought that guy with the green eggs and ham was a little suspect, though.
It's that it was unnaturally green, wasn't it? And...he was a bit pushy now that I think about it. *places his tea on the coffee table, and heads off to the nursery*
*emerges a few minutes later with the book Horton Hears a Who tucked underneath his arm. He takes a seat next to Betty, and opens the book. Before starting to read he leans forward, grabbing his tea, and taking a sip.*
*Annie has gone back to discovering the flavors of her current favored dog toy*
I think you'll like this one, sweetie. Both of you.
*with his ID card in front of him on the table, along with his cell phone, Bruce begins reading*

*rubs her temples* I suppose we should try to occupy ourselves. We’ll only drive ourselves crazy talking about how awful things are outside.
Um. *takes a sip and speaks barely above a whisper* Could you first tell me I’m not leaving everyone to die? Just say that I’m not and I can…we can find something to occupy ourselves.

I can’t stop thinking about what it must be like out there. And then I’m relieved that it didn’t happen while we were out for her appointment yesterday. *shakes her head* That makes me a terrible person, right?
*has spent the time Betty took making tea to attempt to reach Jen, but his cell phone only gives him a busy signal*
*puts the phone aside and takes the cup with a small smile* Thanks.

I…*nods, looking like he’s trying to shake off what’s bothering him. He returns the kiss, and that seems to help even more, though when he speaks he still sounds subdued* Yeah, I’m okay. Thanks, Betty.
*sits down again where he had been; Annie is contentedly flailing her dog. Smiling sadly, Bruce softly kisses her forehead. Annie’s flailing slows and she looks up at him with an expression almost approaching confusion. As much confusion as a three week old can manage, anyway.*
*quietly* Want to show me your doggy, sweetie?
*she stares at him some more then goes back to her flailing*

Look, um, we can put Annie’s baby monitor out in the hallway and the moment anything makes a sound, we’ll hide in the bedroom and you can go out and punch whatever it is.
But what if they’re supposed to be here and they aren’t…them? *his lips stretch into a thin line* We can’t risk it. Too many variables.
*reaches out and takes her hands* I won’t risk it.
Good idea. I’ll go grab that and do that now. I’ll also try to raise anyone I can on the ID cards, see if I can get some solid updates. If…if we can make sure it is safe then I’ll go, but otherwise *tries to smile and fails* I’m not going anywhere.
*looks at him a moment, and nods quickly* Okay. Together, then.
*squeezes his hands back* All right.
*Annie drops her dog and immediately starts fussing* Aw, sweetheart, let’s get your dog back.. *kneels, placing the toy back in her hands*
Be back in a minute then.
*lingers there for a moment, watching Betty give Annie her toy back, twisting his ring again around his finger*
*crosses the living room, grabbing the baby monitor off of the desk and heads for the front door. Carefully, quietly as possible, he opens the door and leans his head out to look into the hallway.*
*it is, at the moment, empty*
*steps out into the hall, and while it is eerily quiet, he can hear sirens and rumbling in the distance. Still attempting to be as quiet as possible, he places the baby monitor down and turns it on.*
*retreats back to the apartment, shutting the door slowly behind him*
*lets out a long breath, leaning against the door*

If nothing else, stay inside with us. One door’s not going to make that much of a difference. If there’s any noise, we hole up in the bedroom.

*his card beeps, and Bruce reaches into his pocket to get it. Natasha’s voice comes out first.*
This is Black Widow. Bruce, get Annie and Betty somewhere with no people right now.
*looks up at Betty with a confused expression for one second before activating his card*

*the card beeps again, interrupting him, and plays the SHIELD alert warning of the release of the skrull antidote and the need to assemble*
*Bruce jumps to his feet, staring at his card incredulously*
Oh. Oh, thank you so much for the heads up. They—I—what—
