I don't disagree that Homestuck does a lot with very little to establish a distinctive silhouette for each character, but any time I see someone gush about how the cast is recognisable no matter how they're drawn, I can't help but suspect that putting everyone with a speaking role in what amounts to a shirt with their name on it probably helped.
