Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“The heart, in its journey to Allāh, Majestic is He, is like that of a bird: love is its head, and fear and hope are its two wings.

When the head and two wings are sound, the bird flies gracefully. If the head is severed, the bird dies… if the bird loses one of its wings, it then becomes a target for every hunter or predator.”

mein Allah ke samne beth'ti hoon hath phela ke, Allah se shikayat karti hoon, lekin kabhi kabhi mein itni thak jaati hoon Allah! ke mere bas mein nahi hay warna mein apko galy laga kar itna rou'n ke puri kayenat ko khabar ho ke duniya walon ne kis tarhan tora hay mujhe, kitna dill dukhaya hay mera, aur kitna rulaya hay mujhe. idk how to explain this feeling but kabhi mera dill karta hay Allah mere bilkul mere samne houn aur mei unko beth ke apne gham sunaon, kiu ke zindagi kabhi kabhi itni ziyada bojhal lagti hay, aur bas phir mein sajde mei sar rakh ke phoot phoot ke rona shru kar deti hoon.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:

When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) arrived at Medina, he found the Jews observing the fast on the day of 'Ashura' (10th of Muharram). The Prophet (ﷺ) asked them (about it) and they replied, "This is the day when Moses became victorious over Pharaoh." The Prophet (ﷺ) said (to the Muslims), "We are nearer to Moses than they, so fast on this day."
