Issa never wanted to move on from Lawrence. She just wanted Lawrence to be better. In every season it was clear that no matter who walked into her life, no matter how fine they were.. they weren’t Lawrence therefore she never really cared about them. She could walk away from all of them so easily every time but Lawrence would always walk back in and have her in a complete emotional mess and they all felt like they didn’t really matter to her because they didn’t. Everybody could feel that if she could be with Lawrence, she would. She wanted a better version of Lawrence and only Lawrence and if Lawrence could be that version then that’s everything she wanted.

He’s a better version now WITHOUT her having to hold his hand through it. They weren’t forcing a relationship through their issues. They broke up. Weren’t together for years. Every time jump they still weren’t together. They were working on themselves individually and knowing everything that it means to be together, Issa still wanted Lawrence. It wasn’t a rash decision and he wasn’t a rebound decision like her last relationships. He’s just who she always wanted no matter how many years passed apart.
