...Named for the death metal band with which I would have found near-certain success had I gotten around to becoming a musician, this Tumblr page is about as rare as a black man at Ty Cobb's funeral, because it is the only corner of my vast media empire that I, the ORIGINAL Danny Havoc role player, actually maintain. I use it for handy storage of various doodles and scribblings that I plan to one day present as supporting evidence for an insanity plea. Although the world of wrestling bleeds in occasionally, this page is primarily used for artistic endeavors, with the wrestling updates being made (on my behalf) over at Twitter.com/dannyhavocsite by the gullible foreigner I cleverly tricked into indentured servitude with high-interest vodka loans. One last note: I don't use the messaging feature on here, so this isn't a loophole in my social media embargo. Don't be offended when I don't respond; misanthropy isn't something to be taken personally. -DH
Thanks a lot for the answer. Will the book be about your wrestling career, or fiction? I find anything that you write to be quite entertaining and fun.
Well, it will be primarily about my wrestling career, but since that has all been based on fiction, I guess it will be a bit of both, all told.
I'm not sure how long ago this question was posted, and if it's been a while I apologize for not getting back to you in a more timely fashion. I have use this site very infrequently of late and honestly forgot all about the messaging feature. To answer your question, I cannot say that it is coming out soon, but I will say that I am working diligently at it and doing the best I can. Writing a book is a massive and overwhelming undertaking, especially when you're somebody like me who is extremely specific about everything, and is not okay with just jotting down some recalled events and getting through it. I am writing this and I really want it to come out something that I will be proud of, so it is taking a while. I am hoping very strongly to be able to finish it within a year. At the current rate, if I keep on top of it and don't slack off for weeks at a time, that is not an impossible goal. Of course then there is editing and all of the bullshit involved with self-publishing, so I don't know how long the finalizing process will take. This may have been more of an involved response than you anticipated, but working on this book is something that is extremely important to me these days, so if anyone expresses interest I am happy to talk about it because it is my sincere hope that there will be some interest in it when I am all said and done. Thank you for your inquiry and again I'm sorry for the late response.
Well...a few, sure...but I'm gonna say that most of the ones who really find it appealing are probably a little fucked in the head, and one should use caution when getting involved with such a gal...
The UHW poster is awesome. You should do a Unaknowledged Hardcore Capital of the World T-Shirt. Front only. Maybe post here possible designs?
I did a sticker for that years ago...I take it you never saw it? It was kind of limited in supply, I guess. I think we only made like 40 or so of them. The design is already on here somewhere...
Trying to familiarize myself with a new program I downloaded. Did some random, unsolicited designs for some friends (and one that was just fun for me...an updated UHW poster, now that I know how to do stuff like that). No point to it, really, but kinda fun. Trying to get back into doing shirt design as a side-gig for some supplementary income. HMU.
I was trying to help my boy Alex come up with a new shirt design now that he’s gonna be GOING TO JAPAN(~!)...here are a few rough drafts, in reverse order. 1st one is messy, but I think there’s something there to be revisited--I like the jawbone collection. 2nd is clean and I think it looks sharp, but it’s not reinventing the wheel by any stretch. Top one the one he’s most likely to use, if he uses any...he wanted his face incorporated somehow since it’ll be a new market. I like it. Been trying to sell someone on that slogan for a t-shirt for years now...
If he doesn’t use it, or some variant of it, I may just withdraw my endorsement from that ungrateful Mexican bastard. We’ll see.
No occasion for this, except that I miss my friend. I was working on some t-shirt designs for a couple of friends with some knockoff version of Illustrator that I downloaded for free, and I had recently written a section of my [still hypothetical, but ever-more-probable to actually exist one day] book on Marvin’s death and how hard I took it. Decided to play around with some tribute/homage kind of pic and it became this. I kinda like it. Feast with the Gods, big fella.
Completely and utterly random post here, but I happened across this photo when looking for something entirely unrelated, and got a good chuckle out of the thought which it immediately inspired:
“Perhaps the most representative photo ever taken of the three original members of the Nation of Intoxication, as it beautifully illustrates our default personality settings...Me: Sternly Disappointed...Dev: Utterly Bewildered...and Lucky: Incorrigibly Rascally (But too funny to stay properly mad at).”
I had a lot of good times with these two dickheads. I almost wish I could remember them...
I think you were a very good wrestler anyways. How old is too old to start training to become a wrestler? Do you think it's a good idea to do deathmatches from thevery beginning? That's what you did and none of your matches were dissapointing.
Well, I sincerely appreciate you saying that, but many of my early matches were very disappointing to me...or at least, they are NOW, as I look back on them. I very much wish I had become better at the basics of wrestling prior to jumping into the world of deathmatches. That is among my most enduring and ardently-stressed advice. As far as age, I don’t know what to say...I began very early, but I know guys who have started in their 30′s and met with success...it’s all a matter of physical health and determination. I hope I have been of some assistance.
As they say in down at the Daily Planet where I work as a mild-mannered and bespectacled everyman to whom nary a second glace need be given nor probing question inquired of, I am forced to print a retraction based on the misinterpretation of a request inquiry directing to me via this Tumblr page.
I was slightly-bleary eyed when I first read and replied to the question, and I mistook it as reading, “I want to be European, Danny Havoc.” Despite thinking it an odd question to start and even more curious that it was posed to me, I diligently set about providing my best advice on the issue. As it turns out, however, the question actually read “I want to be THE European Danny Havoc,” which makes more sense but calls for an entirely different response. Apologies.
I don’t know what a European Danny Havoc would be like. Probably more cultured and multi-lingual, with a penchant for athleticwear and an increased attentiveness given to my hairstyle that could/should be viewed with a modicum of suspicion. It’s hard for me to imagine my overseas counterpart, because honest self-appraisal would likely lead me to point at my mid-American white trash ultra-rural upbringing as a leading factor in bringing it to fruition. Unless you’re from Eastern Europe, I have a hard time imagining you’d relate to such levels of impoverished bored incentives for creating your own fun.
Despite my kneejerk inclination to ALWAYS advise AGAINST following my lead into deathmatches (for liability reasons if not moral ones), I do quite like that deathmatches would seem to have enjoyed a resurgence of late and are being practiced more widely, and frequently, by better athletes. To that end, I quite fancy the idea of inspiring anyone to stake out a claim in Europe and further expand that talent pool. Hungary already has guys like Icarus and Dover who are awesome, and England has my cousin Jimmy and my long-lost brother Clint Margera...wXw has moved away from deathmatches but no doubt there is still a reliable talent pool that may be swayed if it becomes advantageous. Let’s get some more solid representatives from far-flung corners of the European nation, and get a little Deathmatch UN going. I’m all about it. I’ll gladly endorse your cause from across the sea, as long as you invite me to the Summits and all for speaking engagements.
Learn to wrestle first. Like...better than I did. I was a textbook example of bare minimum...you want advice? Excel beyond my example. Perfect your fundamentals and psychology, THEN work on being a super-fucking awesome master of ultraviolent performance art. That’s the best advice I can give. Try to become a good wrestler, then make the transition to deathmatch and bring something unique to it. In essence, rather than the European Danny Havoc, try to be the European Alex Colon. Only less Puerto Rican.
I noticed over the last week or two that a hitherto-unprecedented number of people have used the platform of Tumblr to ask questions of me, on a variety of subjects. In truth, I had completely forgotten that there was even a semi-interactive component to this web application (and I can’t say that I’m entirely thrilled by the revelation) …but it occurred to me that--as has been oft pointed out in reference to the many other cases in which I’ve been resistant to adapt to new technology and ways of doing things--I should probably try a little harder to promote/remind people of my willingness to take commission requests for artwork at any time. Someone asked after a custom doodle recently, and my memory was jogged that I really ought to be shilling better.
Ever since parting ways with RandomThings (the printing company for which I was employed for several years), opportunities have been scarce to turn my artwork into monetary gain. I have it in mind to one day work my way back around to a place that allows me to use my design skill for pay, but who can say if or when that will occur? For the time being, allow me at least to remind any followers of this account that I would be more than happy to try my and at whatever random suggestions strike your fancy, so please feel free to contact me via e-mail should this be of interest to you.
hi, danny. why'd u have tattoo of norwegian flag on your hand(well, 'round there)? and a lot of little bit of scandinavian references? your theme song, attire, tattoes. are you fan of scandinavian culture or norseman (or something like this)? sorry for stupid, crazy, messy and illiterate question, i'm drunk.
Well...I would have thought the reasoning behind that to be fairly obvious, but I'll indulge your curiosity. I come from the northern midwestern United States, an area where huge numbers of Scandinavian immigrants settled. My family were no exception; my grandparents came over on a boat from Norway at the turn of the last century, and their culture remained very important to them. I was raised largely by my grandmother, so she instilled a great deal of cultural significance in me, as well.
So, I'm descended from Nordic stock, I love the mythology and the old Norse culture, and also I'm a fucking viking bro. Clear as day.
