If you can use life energy/blood from people to power spells, why not from plants? There’s probably some lore reason this can’t happen by now, but whatever.

The hardest part of the genocide run for me, emotionally, was bringing the world back. Frisk had given Chara a goal, certainty, and meaning from darkness and confusion. It seemed to me Chara was finally satisfied, and felt they had a true partner, but then I turned around and told them I didn’t like our plan after all, just like Asriel did. Giving Chara Frisk’s soul seems to assuage them for the most part, but I felt guilty for the initial betrayal.
