I like love stories (not just romantic ones) :3

Inspired by @damsel-loves-machinesā post. This was originally going to be a reblog, but I got a little bit carried away š
āLucifer!ā
Lucifer turned his head, the expression of shock on his face quickly turning into one of delight at the sight of you running toward him. He turned his whole body to face you, dropping his cane on the floor in favour of opening his arms for a hug.
āHey, sweetie! Is everything- oh, okay, then!ā
His words are lost when you cup his cheeks, pulling him closer until your faces are inches from each other. His eyes widen at the proximity, which, combined with the way your hands squish his cheeks, makes for quite the adorable sight.
He lets out an awkward chuckle, unsure what the sudden affection is all about. āUh, honey? Whatās goi- mmph!ā
Once again, you donāt let him finish, instead crashing your mouth onto his. The suddenness of the action, combined with the intensity of your passion, makes his brain turn fuzzy, all coherent thought effectively lost and replaced with the sensation of your lips moving against his. His cheeks glow, literally, in the dim light of the hall, illuminating the small space around you with a shining golden light.
Thereās a whumpf! as his wings jump out from his back, a flurry of feathers falling to the ground from the suddenness of their appearance. They flutter rapidly, struggling to catch up to the sudden influx of emotions.
Before he can even melt into the kiss, you pull away with a bright, too innocent smile. Pressing one final peck to the place where his nose would be if he had one, you step away, savouring the glowing, speechless expression on his face and wishing you could take a picture to remember this moment forever.
āOkay, thanks! Iāll see you later!ā you say as you walk past him at a brisk pace, trying your best to stifle your laughter.
Lucifer doesnāt move, still standing there with a slackened jaw and rumpled feathers twitching behind him. It takes a moment for the shock to wear off, at which point he shakes his head and turns to face the direction you went off in (youāve already disappeared), now expressing pure confusion and indignation.
He sputters, before exclaiming in a voice much too high to carry any dignity, āWhat the hell was that?! You just⦠you just attack me out of nowhere, and then leave me all high and dry?! Nuh uh! Not happening! No way! You get back here right now and finish what you started, missy, or so help meā¦ā
You hear the sound of wings flapping, and the giggles finally burst out of you as you quicken your pace. Thereās no point, since you know he can catch up to you easily, but the thrill of the chase is half the fun.
As predicted, he catches up fairly quickly, and you squeal as your feet leave the ground. Luciferās arms are wrapped firmly around your waist, heat radiating from his form and making your skin prickle with both the warmth and the anticipation.
āLetās see how you like being teased, you little brat.ā
Iām trying to practice more suggestive stuff, since Iām not really used to writing it but itās something Iād like to get better at. Still not fully confident with it yet, but this was definitely a fun practice!
Well, he canāt just let you have the last word now, can he? Heās not the Sin of Pride for nothing! š¤
To be honest, thatās just the dynamic between Lucifer and Reader in my head in a nutshell ā one teases the other and then you chase each other around the hotel like cat and mouse š
Iām glad you liked it! Honestly your posts are part of what inspired me to start my own writing blog in the first place, so this is a huge honour for me that you enjoy it

does anyone else ever think about the unnamed people left behind. the aftermath. does anyone else ever think about Husk's drinking buddies at the bar who wonder why he stops showing up one day. does anyone else ever think about the last surviving photo of Baxter in a museum's archives where he's just unidentified man (assumed dead in the sinking). does anyone else think about Val's girls who found him dead on the pavement and looked at each other over his still-warm body. does anyone else think about Cherri's punk friends who still to this day wonder what happened to that crazy pyro and try not to think about the bushfire that started on the last day anyone ever heard from her. does anyone else ever think about the film archivist who devoted their life to piecing together the lost classics starring Niffty. the documentaries. the docuseries. the authors of the books on Vincent Whittman and the youtube essayists who breathlessly recount Velvette's last days alive. Angel's grand-niece who wants to forget her family's history. the newspaper obituaries. is anyone else out there. is anyone else thinking about this. is this thing on
Because Iām actually a sucker for domesticity and I woke up with The Softness. Itās also my first time writing something relatively suggestive, and Iām really hoping itās not as embarrassing as I feel it is š
Having a stay at home date with Lucifer. Getting all dolled up and going to a fancy restaurant or a bar is fun, but sometimes you just want to get in your most comfortable pyjamas and relax with your favourite person.
Making dinner together, moving in tandem around the kitchen and inevitably burning something because Lucifer distracted you by pulling you into an impromptu dance to a tune only he could hear. āItās fine!ā he reassures you. āItās not burnt, itās just⦠got a little extra flavour!ā
After finishing your meal (which still ended up being delicious despite the little mishap), you move to the living room. A blanket draped over your laps (too small to share, but instead of getting a bigger one, you opt to scoot closer until youāre practically on top of each other) and a glass of wine in your hands as the cheesiest of romcoms plays on the screen. Inevitably having to comfort a tipsy and emotional Lucifer who is sobbing into your chest about true love and soulmates as you wrap your arms around him and murmur reassurances into his hair, a fond smile playing on your lips at this sweet, silly man.
By halfway through the second movie (when, thankfully, Lucifer has managed to calm down), youāve completely given up the pretense of watching. Lucifer straddles you, his lips moving against yours. Itās not the usual rushed, frantic energy of your hunger for each otherāitās slow and tender, savouring the taste of the wine that lingers on your lips and you. Itās the kind of soft yet no less intense passion that makes your toes curl and your stomach do flips at the feeling of being completely and utterly wanted.
At the end of the night, after youāve both shed your clothes and heās proven just how devoted he is to you, you can barely keep your eyes open. Despite his own tiredness, Lucifer forces himself to get you both to bed so you donāt wake up sore from sleeping on the couch. He lays you down gently before climbing in himself, holding you close as his tail wraps around your leg, a subconscious habit heās kept ever since the first time you shared a bed to ensure you donāt leave while his eyes are closed.
You fall asleep pressed against his chest, listening to his heart beating steadily, beating for you. When sleep finally greets you, you slip under, your blissful contentment granting you the easiest night youāve had in years.
Iām not going to lie, I had a really hard time thinking of a name and I was too excited to actually post this whole thing after posting the snippet like a week ago. Iāll probably come back and add a name at some point when I think of one, but for now, I hope you enjoy!
Lucifer hadnāt existed for very long before he realised one fundamental truth: he is not a perfect angel. Heās not sure what went wrong during the creation process with him specifically, but something must have happened, otherwise he wouldnāt be like this. If he was normal, heād be singing choirs and making contributions to Earth just like everybody else, not sitting under this stupid tree outside of Eden.
Why does a tree even need a guard? Itās not as if the humans know of its existence, and they never leave the garden anyway. Besides, even if they did take a bite of the fruit, he doubts it could have lasting consequences like the kind they warn him about to make the job seem more important. Itās an apple. The only harm it could do is if they choked on it. He still suspects the only reason they came up with this punishment is so they could be rid of him for a bit.
No matter how pointless the job is, however, he has no choice. Itās his duty to guard it as punishment for something that wasnāt really his fault. He didnāt mean to set fire to Seraās robes, the fireworks just went off before they were supposed to. A totally harmless accident (well, he supposes it wasnāt harmless to Seraās robes, but they were easily fixed) that led to an entire month of punishment.
Itās not too bad, he supposes. It could be worse, he reminds himself. At the very least, he has himself for company, and in his opinion, he is an excellent listener, and he doesnāt pretend to listen to his ramblings while (not so) secretly thinking of an excuse to leave. He canāt say that about any of his coworkers now, can he? He can be his own best friend. Heās a cool guy! He knows a lot about ducks, he has a great sense of humour, andā
Oh, who is he kidding? He sucks, too. He canāt even be mad at the others for wanting to be free of him; if it were possible to leave behind the parts of himself that everybody else deemed ātoo much,ā heād probably join them. But he canāt, and that knowledge creates a hollow ache in his chest that heās grown all too accustomed to.
He groans, leaning forward until his head meets his knees. He closes his eyes, allowing the darkness to overtake him in the hopes of a distraction from his own thoughts before he can descend into another spiral. If heās lucky, the emptiness of the void will seep into his brain and he wonāt have to think about what a pathetic failure he is for a few minutes.
āHi!ā
The sudden voice makes him yelp, and his head shoots up as his wings flare, almost whacking the intruder in the face. It would serve them right, he thinks, before he looks up and sees a familiar face beaming down at him.
Never mind.
āYou know, you should really think about investing in one of those bells,ā he says as his heart calms down, your soothing presence already working its magic on his frayed nerves. āMaybe then you wouldnāt scare me half to death every time you visit.ā
āYeah, but whereās the fun in that?ā you ask with that beautiful, infuriating grin as you lower yourself to the ground. He shuffles over on the root heās sitting on without even thinking about it, making space for you to sit. You do so, crossing one leg over the other. āIād miss your screams too much.ā
āOkay, I did not screamāā
āYou so didāā
āāI yelped, and it was a very normal noiseāā
āIt was cute.ā
Whatever retort is about to come out of his mouth is quickly replaced by a wheezy sputter, the finger he has raised in the air falling limp. No matter how many times you compliment him, it always catches him off guard. He hopes the heat that rushes to his cheeks isnāt as visible as he fears it is.
Thankfully, you donāt push the teasing for once. Even if he wouldnāt mind hearing you call him cute againā Wait, who said that?
āSooooo⦠how have you been?ā
Ah, there it is. The dreaded question. Whenever anybody else asks that, he knows theyāre just being polite. They donāt actually care how heās been, so he can just plaster on that grin of his and say, āIām fine!ā and then watch as they go on their merry way. But you actually ask that question looking for an answer. An honest answer that he canāt give because he doesnāt even know it.
āIām fine!ā He tries to sound assuring, but his voice is too squeaky and his smile too wide. He clears his throat and tries again, forcing his smile to relax and lowering his voice to a much more normal pitch. āI-Iām fine. Seriously.ā
Your eyes narrow, and he feels the sudden urge to shrink into his robes. He needs to change the subject before you ask again and heās forced to confront the feelings heād been having before your appearance.
āHow are the humans doing?ā Itās the first question he can think to ask. He didnāt see a whole lot of them before being banished here, and as a naturally curious being, he canāt help but wonder how the new Earth species is faring.
You think for a moment, leaning back on your hands. āTheyāre⦠okay, I guess. Lilith is nice, at least. She was very polite when I went to visit them, if a little standoffish. Though I think that was mostly because of Adam.ā
āAdam?ā he questions, trying to remember the difference between the two. āIs he the one with the long hair or the one with the beard?ā
You chuckle. āThe one with the beard. Heās⦠uh⦠how do I put this nicely?ā
āA jerk?ā
āAn asshole,ā you say at the same time, seemingly having given up on trying to find a politer way to describe the first man.
Lucifer lets out a gasp, his hands flying to his face and squishing his cheeks together in a comically exaggerated expression of shock.
āSuch language!ā he scolds, as the shock turns into a disapproving frown. āWhat would the Seraphim say?!ā
You laugh, and suddenly the ache in his chest has nothing to do with loneliness or doubt, and everything to do with you. Making you laugh like this, so open and unguarded, never fails to make him swell with pride, sinful as he knows it is to feel such a thing.
Though if it feels this good, then maybe sin doesnāt always have to be such a bad thing.
āOh, shut up,ā you retort, giving him a shove. Thereās almost no force behind it, but itās the suddenness of the action that makes his wings flare once more as he almost falls off the root. Once the shock fades, he lets out a laugh of his own.
āNo, you shut up!ā He pushes you back, and unfortunately your reflexes arenāt as quick as Luciferās, so you end up failling onto the ground, your eyes wide and mouth open in a perfect āOā shape like youāre struggling to process whatās just happened.
Lucifer canāt help it. He bursts into more laughterālouder this time, and more freeāat your absurd expression. He laughs so hard he ends up losing his balance as he leans forward, and falls onto the ground beside you, curling in a ball on his side with his arms over his stomach as he struggles to breathe (thank God he doesnāt have to). It doesnāt take you long to join him, collapsing right next to him.
Youāll both probably get a scolding later for muddying up your pristine robes, but he canāt bring himself to care about the opinions of others for once. In this fleeting moment that he wishes could last an eternity, his world has narrowed down to just you and him, rolling about in the grass under the shade of the apple tree.
It takes a few minutes for you both to calm down. When you finally do, taking a moment to look up at the sky and catch your breath, he feels your hand slip into his. He turns his head, not worrying so much about the blush this time.
āYou okay?ā you ask. Your hair is mussed, your cheeks flushed, and thereās a grass stain on your face. Heās sure he looks much the same. He smiles, squeezing your hand.
āNever better,ā he says, and this time, he thinks he might actually mean it.
@naponiac you asked me to tag you, so here it is! i hope itās as enjoyable to read as it was to write :) (also i may or may not have a part two planned featuring lilith if anyone likes this š)
snippet of an angel!lucifer thing iām working on to see if anyone would be interested :)
