in the ruins of the fallen southern tribe lies an anomaly. head of black hair, bright eyes, pale skin, fire in her breath—a firebender bore of the northern waters. the story isn’t abnormal, isn’t anything beyond cliche, if you ask her, it isn’t a story at all.
at least, not one with a whole lot to tell.
details are simple. easily explained in the following bullets:
a man and a woman walks into a bar.
the man leaves.
the woman swells.
the woman flees to the now claimed land of the fire nation, formerly known as the southern water tribes.
she gives birth to a girl.
she takes her life.
the villagers take the girl.
akina grows under precarious conditions. the southern tribes (now named after whatever it was that the fire lord deemed fit; she can’t recall, it’s not used here. spat on, more like) is not her home. that much is clear. yet none is upfront with where she is supposed to be. no explanation given for the cold looks, clipped words. no one ever says anything. but akina lives on, fitted within the temple, under the care of the monks that resided there.
there, rules are simple. i won’t bother with bullets as there is absolutely only one.
never firebend.
it is outrageous, end of the day, positively appalling. as she gets older, she learns to nurture her mother’s gift in the dark of the night. bears the pain against her skin in retaliation. as she gets older, it’s increasingly obvious the significance in her being there. despite the so-called conformity of its residents; they still hated the fire nation with every fiber of their beings.
at 24, akina leaves the cursed grounds of a faraway fishing village to board an airship in the heart of the former southern tribe capital. leaving behind things that were never really hers to begin with. a home. traditions. a nameless grave she pays respects blindly to year after year.

i lost all my coherency here we go:
couple things: as she has no idea as to her birth mother or birth rights (yes all she has is a family insignia that hung off her neck, whatever that is) and has never been out of the southern water tribe, she’s highkey chaotic in the fire nation rn. looking around for places and etc
she also has no money so she’s bit street rat bit breaks into empty apts to spend the night
really i should have included this in the bio but it didn’t fit in (like, flow wise)

her defiance levels are high and being out here in the open for once she’s very guarded
her temper very much so mirrors her ability to firebend (wildly, uncontrollable. yes she does breathe fire)
she knows shes pretty and knows how to use that to her advantage, but anything beyond basic manipulative maneuvers are like Beyond Her
just be nice ok shes basically just a country bumpkin with an anger problem (and a big dose of emo) 😭
