You cannot not-noticing
âą Being_is_IT / Twitter
Q: I find that when I notice the minds function, I start to try to grasp for some sort of conclusion, such as âthis is the mindâ âthis is feelingâ. I find that I cannot notice without some conclusion.
A: Do you notice the narrative "this is the Mind"? Yes, you do. Do you notice the narrative "this is a feeling"? Yes, you do. Do you notice the narrative "I feel sad"? Yes, you do. Do you notice the narrative "I am frustrated that I cannot notice without reaching a certain conclusion"? Yes, you do. Congratulation! You are very good at noticing. So, it is not possible to stop noticing because even "not-noticing" is being noticed.
I'm curious, would listening to subliminals/affirmations reinforce the illusion of the ego? I'm a bit conflicted, because on one hand, subliminals are loa based, but on the other hand, the ego isn't me, so why would anything the ego does affect me? The reason for this question is that I've been thinking of listening to subliminals to "calm" the ego and it's desires, but I just want to be sure. Have a nice day.
It might help to be very careful with how you're speaking here â because it sounds like you're treating âthe egoâ as a real, separate entity that does things, decides, and controls. But if ego is doing all that, then who exactly are you in that picture? And who is trying to calm it? If âyouâ are listening to subliminals to fix or soothe âthe ego,â then the whole framing already assumes separation and reinforces the illusion you're asking about.
You might say, âOh, Iâm Awareness,â but then why are you talking about ego as if itâs something outside of you with its own will? Thatâs a contradiction that reveals the confusion itself.
The idea of an âegoâ is just that â an idea. A label slapped onto a collection of thoughts. But go deeper: what are thoughts even made of? Can you touch them, hold them, find where they begin or end? And when you're not thinking, where is this so-called ego?
If something only exists when thought about â is that not the clearest sign itâs not Actuality? Itâs not some solid entity that needs managing. So if you treat it like a real problem, youâll keep reinforcing what isnât even there to begin with.
Itâs like the ocean thinking it has to fix one of its waves. Thereâs no âyouâ vs âegoâ battle happening. Thereâs just the illusion of separation, created by taking thought too seriously.
Before trying to calm the ego, ask yourself honestly: what is it really? And who is it that wants to calm it?
Thatâs the habit I see often â especially from those coming from LOA spaces â treating the ego like some odd roommate rather than questioning what it actually is. Before worrying about calming it, maybe ask first: what do I even mean when I say ego? And who is saying that?

This trick of the mind we play on ourselves is an absolute nightmaređđ€š The illusion of a me is not having fun at all and I hope Alan Watts is right that it will be fun to wake up because I'm so done đđđ I'm so bored of this
ok?

i wish I could live as freely as you :(
Thereâs no âmeâ living freely â thatâs just another assumption. The idea that I live freely and you donât is part of the same illusion youâre trying to get out of. What you are is already free. It's not about becoming that, itâs about seeing that you were never not that.
I'm curious, would listening to subliminals/affirmations reinforce the illusion of the ego? I'm a bit conflicted, because on one hand, subliminals are loa based, but on the other hand, the ego isn't me, so why would anything the ego does affect me? I also forgot to add that the first question you asked was "would listening to subliminals reinforce the illusion of an ego"
you called it an illusion, so why are you asking if you can do X to calm it down? Do you see the contradiction? The question cancels itself out. If it's an illusion, what is there to be done?
to me it's like asking "Can I run to that Mirage of an Oasis in front of us? I want to drink some water"
If it's an illusion what am I running to and why?
quick question, does it make sense to answer asks that are a year old here? There was a time I wasn't active and never got to reply to them. There are a lot, hundreds so it's impossible to look at them all.
heyy how ru ?
