Enjoy!
You are a maid who is working for the shadow collective. You have collected many friends in dark places over the years as a past assassin. As you were given the chance to live a more quiet and less dangerous life you chose to clean and help take care of the people who once was like you. However, handling dangerous individuals causes you to be there durring personal and sometimes dangerous situations.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
You knew you were dangerous. You've killed many people in your lifetime for credits and survival. After years of living in dangerous straights around killers and squalor you decided you needed a change. You were a bit of a clean freak. You always have been.
There's been many times where you have asked to clean a coworkers weapons, organize their things and scrub down their lavish houses or small hidden quarters. After a while it was one of the things you were known for. It often got you a good chunk of credits on the side.
You felt a bit embarrassed being called "the killer who cleans." It was a joking jab at you as a traveling nickname, but others would be suprised to know how much sway a maid who cleans for crime lords has.
You are way less likly to be killed in a raid and the pay was usually phenomenal depending if your boss wasnt stingy. Not to mention all of the free stuff and alternative medical options if anything happened.
This new boss you have been hearing of as late owned one of these places. The pay was steady and plentiful. You were told the lord's interest in credits were only professional. You heard he was dangerous, power hungry and cruel to his enemies. Nobody once complained about financial greed. To you it sounded like an obvious choice. When the lords luitenant contacted you on Janex you felt even more positive about the job. However, not one person would dare give a name or face to this mysterious shadow like boss.
Rook kast was not a woman to be trifeled with. Mandalorian by heritage, she seemed ready for anything. Cold, calculated, tough and suprisingly understanding at times. You were not told the name of the lord for privacy and safety reasons as you worked there but were not fully one of them. It didnt help that your new boss was notorious for having trust issues as what was told to you.
Rook was always busy. You hoped she would be there more often to guide you around the abandoned metal yard in which they held their organization...but she only had time to breif you on a bit before she was forced to leave for another job. This was normal sometimes with places like this. Especially if they were less established, and this was a new location for them.
The metalyard was huge, dark and damp. Luckily you were given a map of the area by one of their mandalorian men. You did a different location each day throughout the week. On your first day you worked on scrubbing the floors and making sure the pipes that lined the ceilings in alot of the hallways were not dripping filth onto the workers.
It was clear to you this place was still in it's infancy as far as getting it ready for more professional means. This place was pretty filthy and needed oh so much work. The second day you were able to enter different quarters to clean them. You were impressed how many rooms they were able to establish there.
You wheeled your cleaning supplies around on cart, pulling it behind you. You come to 'the twins room' Scorn and Icarus. They were two zabrak nightbrothers as far as you knew.
Ringing the electronic bell by their quarters you waited for a response. There was none. You huffed, slightly bummed you didnt get to meet the residence. You wanted to at least meet someone. Everyone was always so busy. You put in the code for the room, entered and began your process as you were allowed.
The room was alot bigger than you expected...way bigger. You guessed since they were brothers sharing the same quarters it made sense but something immediately felt off. As you entered, you saw what looked like a study. The room was well furnished but whoever lived here seemed like they were just moving in as there were quite a few boxes and crates stacked here and there.
The study seemed to double as some kind of lounge or living area. A place to sit and talk and recuperate. Straight back there was an archway that lead into a bedroom.
You were definitely in the wrong room...There was a large bed bedecked in black sheets, mandalorian tapestries hanging on the walls, and a large wooden desk covered in organized stacks of books and papers. There was no way this was the twins quarters.
You looked at the map. You were in the right room according to it. You let out a frustrated sigh and rubbed your forhead realizing it must be incorrect. You thought you might as well clean while you were here. It wasn't that bad other than the various stacks of items. It seemed a bit like an organized mess. Maybe some dusting instead?
Walking twords the desk, a blue shimmer of light caught your eye from something that was laying on top of a book. Curiosity pricked at you as you moved closer to it. It looked like a gray round stone amulet about the size of your palm but slightly bigger.
It had a blue sigel etched deep into the ancient looking stone. Twords the top was a dark brown leather cord tied tightly to create a necklace. You couldn't help but pick it up. You were facinated. You've never seen anything like it as simple as it was. It didn't look like it did anything accept glow faintly and exude a palpable almost mystic like energy to you, even without being force sensitive. You turned it in your hand. It was blank on the other side. "Hmm.." you mumbled to yourself.
You stepped back from the desk and bumped into something hard. Letting out a loud gasp You spun around, clutching the amulet to your chest.
There was a man standing so close to you, you almost screamed, but intead you stared up at him in horror. You heard absolutely no indication of his arrival.
"What are you doing in my quarters?" He growled angrily.
He was a zabrak, a nightbrother. His skin was ruby red and covered in black intricate angular tattoos that went from the top of his hairless horn crowned head and crawled down to his chest that was exposed partially through a soft black tunic. It was guarded by sleek lightweight black leather armor on top and held closed tightly by a belt. Of all your years doing this work as soon as you saw him you knew why they didn't tell you who your new boss was.
You were in stunned silence as you quickly looked him up and down. You've seen this man before.
It was Darth Maul.
"M...maul?" You whispered. That was your second mistake...Recognition.
You pressed yourself closer to the desk when he moved in as soon as you called out to him. He was almost closing the gap between you both. His eyes were a burning spark of yellow that sizzled with fury, contrasting incredibly with the intricate black tattoos that adorned his face. They flickered down to your hands that were gripping the amulet.
HIS amulet.
"You dare?" He said, grasping your wrist tightly with a leather gloved hand and effortlessly whipped you around him, away from the desk. "You dare handle my belongings?" He spat as you tumbled to the floor, the amulet slipping from your fingers. As soon as your hands left the amulet it quickly zipped through the air to Mauls hand before he slipped it into the pocket of his tactical trousers.
A use of the force, the yellow eyes. Even now you can see a gleam of his durasteel prosthetic legs glimmering above the top of his black well- worn motorcycle boots. It was him indeed. You had to start explaining yourself before you were turned to bantha meat.
"Sir please! I'm just the maid. I was to clean the quarters today!" You pleaded. You were terrified but knit your brows together trying to keep yourself strong in front of him as you pushed yourself to your feet.
"NOT mine. You should have never come in here." He said. He wasnt yelling but his voice was low, clear, commanding and boomed over you.
"I'll leave. I wont intrude in your privicy, I just-"
You fumble to grab your map to show him. "My map of this place is incorrect. Please believe me! If I knew I would have been far more careful."
Maul reached out and grabbed the map. His expression didnt change. It was still cold and aggressive.
He scanned the map breifly.
He narrowed his eyes.
And then crumpled it in his fist.
"Get out."
He didn't have to tell you twice. You obliged immediately as you turned and ran twords the door. Everything felt like a blur as it slid open and you were back out into the hallway.
Suddenly there was a bang from behind you and you barely were able to turn before having to scramble away, narrowly avoiding your cleaning cart as it raced twords you and then crashed into the wall. Cleaning supplies flew everywhere In a breif explosion of chaos. Then...silence. you were alone once again.
Your heart was racing and you stood frozen still like a statue, listening. What was going to happen next? You could faintly hear Maul speaking to someone. A halocall...he sounded mad.You didn't dare move.
About a minute later the door slid open and Maul stepped out into the hallway. You slowly looked up at him. He stared back. His keen yellow eyes pierced your mind so suddenly you didn't even notice it...as he suddenly took hold. All you knew is that a punishment of sorts was imminent...and then you knew nothing.
"You will follow me." He said to you. His words were void of emotion and they immediately sank into you, twisting in your mind like smoke in a hypnotic way. Before you knew it you were mindlessly following him as he quietly lead you down the dark hallways of the compound.
You no longer felt scared. In fact, you felt empty. It was as if you're mind was floating in a cloud filled void. You simply stared blankly forward, watching his black cloak flutter as he walked and listened to his footsteps echoing down the eerie steel halls.
He took you outside and you were now walking along the huge metal ramp where ships would be taken apart and melted down in the glowing sea of lava that had surrounded the massive catwalk. It was now empty and was just a wide open space that was silent only for the sound of the burbling sizzling sound of the lava that surrounded the ramp. He lead you to the center and stopped walking. Without looking at you he spoke. "Kneel." He said.
You dropped to your knees, your thoughts still paralyzed.
It was quiet for a moment and suddenly the grip on your mind was released.
You looked around. Your breathing spiked.
"Wh-what? Where am I?" You gasped.
"Be silent." He rumbled.
This time it was a direct order.
Your teeth clenched together as you tried to steady yourself. Audible footsteps clacked onto the metal as someone else approached. You turned your head to see who it was .
"My Lord, PLEASE. I'm sure this can be figured out." Said Rook as she quickly came to your side.
Maul slowly held his arms behind his back. He rolled his strong shoulders, stretching his lean muscles. He raised his horned head to look at the dark navy blue spattering of clouds that laid above them like a tattered blanket. "Oh I am hoping so...or we may have to find us a new servant, lady kast." He said.
His voice was deep, cold and uncaring. His smooth accented cadence sounded regal and calm. However, there was something else that was sinister that scratched under the surface with grasping, bloodthirsty claws. You shuddered when you heard it.You could feel it.
You almost wish you were less intuitive then you really were.Maybe you would be able to hang on to a sliver of hope still.
Your eyes were darting between the both of them. Rook was that only sliver of hope at this moment.
"You, y/n" he said. "Have been doing this service for quite some time now...haven't you?" He asked cooly.
"Yes..." you answered.
"And you must have done well at your tasks when you were employed by lord Marg Krim? He is hard to please. Hard to TRUST as well." He finally turned to face you and started to walk around you in a slow circle. He was eyeing you like prey.
Your blood ran cold as he mentioned your old employer. Maul was supposed to be in hiding. Krim had turned on him at the battle of Mandalor and Dathomir. You knew he lost much in this battle. You barely knew anything about it other than that.
"I have no allegiance to Krim. I heard of the battle but I left before that. I will make sure nobody knows that you are here. I've left it all behind."
"We will see." He said plainly."I have a hunch that will be proven here, and now. " Maul stopped and stood right behind you. You heard a small click accompanied by the awakening roar of what sounded like a laser sword. You gasped as the room around you turned blood red as the vicious weapon lit the scenery.
"Now, tell me..." he hissed evily."Who was the one who gave you this map of our facility?" You turned, looking at him confused. It was one of the mandalorians as far as she knew. A name?... "It was...Pylor who did."
You could barely see his face from the intense light but you could tell he was looking at Rook because her fists tightened and posture stiffened. You didnt know what was happening. You were suprised how quiet luitenant kast was but now that she was here it almost seemed she was just making sure things didnt go too poorly...maybe? You were sweating at the heat of the sword. It was getting hard to think clearly. "Lady kast, go and retrieve our FRIEND and bring him here."
Rook looked apprehensive but she did as he asked. "Yes my lord." She said and walked away quickly.
When her footsteps began to quiet you could hear your stressed ragged breath as hot energy started to singe your skin through your clothes. It was very close . "Dont budge or you will greatly regret it." He said.
"Are you going to kill me?" You couldn't help but asking. This time he said nothing. You shuttered and grit your teeth hard. You heard a bang from the end of the ramp and some shouting and scuffling. You wanted to look to see what was happening but obeyed your orders and stayed still.
After a while of what sounded like a struggle, a man if full Mandalorian armor was thrown onto the ground in front of you by an unknown force, until a giant of a man stepped around you. A Yellow nightbrother covered with black markings sporting shorter horns than Maul was on the assault of this mandalorian.
Maul himself looked lean and muscular but this guy was built like a tank. The man grunted angrily and aimed a heavy kick to the mandalorians core sending him rolling and moaning apon heavy impact."AGH!! you brutes! You will have what's coming to you!" He yelled in pain.
Maul slowly pulled his blade away from you, causing you to sigh in releif.
"Good evening Pylor." He said. "It seems that we have caught on to your treachery." Maul said to him."What the hell are you talking about?"Pylor spat.
"He's got Pyke made explosives strapped to the bottom of the cleaning cart...and in his quarters too my lord." Another voice joined them from behind. slightly higher pitched but gravely sounding."Everything has been disarmed."
You slowly started to realize what was going on now. You were sent as a sacrifice to kill Maul. It was treason on the inside. Everything she did since she got here felt so simple but now seemed huge apon reveal. This mandalorian was trying to use her for his own means, even though their meeting was breif.
Pylor looked around at the growing crowd as Mauls team started to emerge. He couldn't lie his way out of this. Not here. Not anymore."Go ahead Maul...You can get rid of me but lord Krim will know sooner or later and he will destroy you."
You could see Maul walking forward into view. He raised his brows at him. "Oh?That is disappointing you feel that way. I suppose this is a good time to ask our servent here to surrender fealty to me. Maul said gesturing to you with a open gloved palm.
He looked down at you with viper like intense eyes."Icarus, give her a weapon." This time ANOTHER nightbrother stepped into view. He was also a red zabrak but smaller than Maul and wore a black gaiter that covered his nose and mouth. He exuded that familiar rugged wildness most his kind had.
Icarus stood in front of you and pulled what looked to be a 9 inch hunting knife out it's holster that was attached to his thigh. He flipped the blade expertly in his hand causing the metal to shimmer brightly in the blooming moonlight before catching it by flat of the tip of the blade. He handed you the hilt of the knife. "Make it messy." He rasped, his red eyes gleaming with dark humor.
You felt a cold shiver run up your spine as you grasped the knife, taking it from the Zabrak. This was becoming an indoctrination. The way the others looked at you including Maul and Kast, They were waiting for you to make your choice. Either kill or be killed.
"HAH you're going to have the cleaning lady kill me? Real classy. I thought you respected the sanctety of the Mandalorians?" The man gaffawed as he started to push himself to his his feet. "You think she can take me down anyways?"
As soon as the words left his mouth his hands immediately went to his throat. He was choking...
A invisible force started to lift the man up to his feet and more so until his heels left the ground. "You...cant" he choked.
"Oh but I can. For you see, I am, whether you want it or not, Your TRUE leader. You disrespect ME? Well...you don't see the others coming to help you, do you?"He said cooly with a sharp spitful bite at the end of his question.
There was a dark choir of laughs that emitted from Mauls crew. You tightened your grip on the blade. You had already decided.
You rolled yourself from your kneeling position onto your feet and then lunged at the stunned mandalorian with the knife and dispatched him quickly by slashing his throat. Tucking the blade under his helmet and between his armor.
The man screamed and yelled until he couldent no longer.
You took a deep breath...you felt terrible. You didnt want to have to kill again. You knew you couldn't let this drag out either.Apon seeing the approval in the faces of others, you felt a sense of relief wash over you.
"Excelent. " Maul rumbled. "Now, swear you're loyalty to me" His voice projected effortlessly over you but it wasn't a hypnotic command like before. You bowed your head deeply, placing the bloody knife in front of you. "Yes, my lord." You said, your breathing shuddering slightly under his gaze.
"Good. Then I formally welcome you to the shadow collective, my servant."
