helloooooo! i would like to join but i have couple questions :3 asking through the askbox in case anyone else has the same questions
1. whos behind this project? i know on your carrd it says youll say at the end of october, but im not really comfortable trusting a project who isnt mentioning whos in charge and is just saying "we have experience trust." it seems odd to me to not reveal yourself, which would help legitimize the project
2. whats with the id-verified 18+ requirement? if this was for profit or was nsfw id understand it, but this a sfw for charity. i also dont feel comfortable giving up my information like that (esp with you not telling us your identity). it also feels odd to me to have the age limit be 18+ because from my experience (and of the experience of my art mutuals i talked about this with) for these types of zines it tends to be 15+/16+. this strictness is really throwing me off
3. how will the tariffs in the us be affecting the prices for physical book sales (if we get to that) since you said youll be shipping everywhere? ill admit i dont know that much about the tariffs, but ive seen people not shipping to the us anymore/not shipping out of the us anymore due to them
4. the carrd says that the proceeds will be going to an "art charity of the contributers' choice," what exactly does that mean? everywhere else it says charity, will choices be limited to just charities related to art or...?
Hello Wyvern! :D Thank you for reaching out. We appreciate your interest in our Zine and I'm more than happy to answer your questions.
We'd like a little more time to get everything together. We plan on opening mod applications very soon, hence why we haven't gotten around to a proper team reveal yet. But you're absolutely right in wanting to know who's behind the project. I'm @StrawberryHolly 💕 It's nice to meet you! It's an absolute pleasure to give back to this fandom I adore so dearly.
You make a great point about the ID checks. Me and the team have run zines with NSFW add-ons in the past, so it was a muscle memory precaution. As of now, we've decided to veto the ID verification and base participation on an honor system instead. Thank you for pointing this out! As for the age requirement, the current mod team consists of adults in their mid to late 20s, so we'd prefer working formally with other adults. I sincerely apologize to those unable to take part. We're so grateful for all the support and hope to create something fun for everyone. ✨️
(Edit: After further discussion among the team and personal requests we've received, we've decided that artists who will be turning 18 before the release of the Zine are permitted to apply, since the contents of the Zine are fully SFW and we'd like to give more opportunities to people who are passionate about the project. Thank you for your suggestions!)
The recent United States tariffs mainly target certain manufacturing materials and imports, but books and printed media are generally exempt under current regulations. Since our books will be printed and shipped from within the United States, the tariffs themselves shouldn't directly impact production or pricing. That said, we're planning ahead just in case. We'll be shipping under DDP (Delivered Duty Paid), meaning all customs and import fees will be handled on our end. There will be no surprise charges for international buyers. We're also building a small buffer into our budget to absorb any future changes or logistics shifts, and we'll be working with reliable carriers like DHL and UPS who manage customs clearance smoothly worldwide.
I'm glad you brought this up! We researched thoroughly and picked out some charities that encourage healing through art therapy, supports underprivileged groups, and provides youth the resources they need. We've decided on one of these organizations. You can click the links below if you'd like to learn more:
⭐ Kids and Art Foundation
⭐ The Art Therapy Project
⭐ Art Refugees in Transition
At the start of production, all contributors will be provided a form to vote on the charity they'd like proceeds to go toward, and the organization with the most votes will be our charity of choice. We feel it's important for contributors who put a lot of hard work and effort into the project to have a say in where our earnings go. Your voices matter to us!
Thanks again for your ask - I hope it clears up most of your concerns. If you have any follow-up questions, please don't hesitate to let us know! 🌈
