I’m playing Marvel’s Midnight Suns (yes that’s the full name of the game I hate it) and this is exactly what it’s like. Painfully play story, terrible characters I hate, characters I like but are befriending at an uncomfortable hasty pace, and gameplay that is ticking every little autism receptor in my brain with just a few things that I could change SO easily and it’d be a superbug turn-based combat game. It is fucking maddening and I can’t get enough.

i hate the way fat antagonists have their weight moralized and used as a metaphor for greed and corruption and i hate the way it's overcorrected into fat people being "soft squishy friend-shaped cupcakes who look like they give incredible hugs" and i long for the day we have nuanced, interesting, and complicated fat characters and most of all i long for the day people are normal about fatness

For a fun exercise, I’m gonna brainstorm other ways to include greed and corruption into character design, because I think it’s fun to design a guy someone can look at and go “ah yeah he’s a dick,” and equating physical traits like scars, large noses, or weight to these traits inherently harms people who have those traits for no reason.

I once did a “are you evil!??!??” quiz that posed itself as being more academic and several of the questions were on par with, “Would you let someone punch you in the stomach once to punch someone you disliked in the stomach twice? Agree or disagree?” And I thought, “What? No fuck you that’s the worse Faustian bargain I’ve ever been offered, who would take something that petty??” And then the quiz told me I had 1% or less in a few areas include the Dark Triad and I figured “okay well that’s gotta be average right?” Anyways reading this makes me reconsider how “kind” average kindness is
