Its halloween and Yi decided that Xi needed to go out and have fun (so he can be at home and drink in peace without her dirty looks) this is her revenge.

Heng stood in the morning light, having just finished the morning tea to go with breakfast. She lifted her niece up and held her close as Xi reached for him.

“You worry too much, dear brother. Things are fine,” she said in gentle tones, and patted the giggling Xi’s head. “Besides, Xaio Xi seems to be in perfect health! Maybe I’ll burn some incense later as an offering for Fusang…”

Also, just curious with the communication set up in chapter 4, will Yi continue to talk to his friends and family over the years, and can Xi speak to her real father as well?

The trauma goes far enough within reasonable standards but it is 18 years worth of it, so even then adjusting to a more normal, stable life after years of abuse and neglect will still have adverse effects. That Vital Chamber is gonna be getting its uses that’s for sure.

Yes, he will be using it as a “back door” to communicate with his friends and family through out the years, but he also will likely use it to leak information about the palace and plans to the guild so that they can stop the kingdom’s political advance too.

Now whether Jiequan becomes aware of Yi doing it is beyond me.

Can I ask one question?

I know that Jiequan will probably ‘get what he deserves’ at the end, but will his suffering be slowly building up across the story, or all aaved for the very end?

Jiequan actually winds up getting owned by Yi like this is mainline Nine Sols like 3 times during the course of Rising Sun. Though it usually ends poorly for Yi, but yes Jiquan will be slowly suffering. Mostly at the hands of Yi gaining the courage to wring his neck. Don't piss off Mama Yi, even is he is half-sick.

Seriously hyped for chapter 6 knowing it's going to be a monster chapter but also seriously scared knowing what yi and xi go through in it... plus if you don't mind me asking, can you give us one more hint/teaser for whats to come?

I'm aiming for about 10k or around that area for wording so it'll be a lot longer than Chapter 5 and a lot happens in it. There will be a small time skipas well. I don't mind you asking at all Anon, I'll drop one more hint. Remember Lady Ethereal's section of the game? It's a bit something like that. Sort of. That's about all I can say without it being a super dead giveaway. Chapter 6 is currently about 30% done now :3

do u have any ideas for comics youd like to draw at some point that you want to share?

Couple of gag based ones but another big one that involves the Guild in Red and White. That one will take a very long while and put everything I know to the test.

That one involves a mystery that I want to be solvable by both the readers. The mystery is that one of the members of the Council has been possessed by an evil spirit, the problem is they are acting normal for the most part. Xi has been called in to help Yi figure out who is the possessed Sol and exorcise them before something really bad happens.

There’s already some candidates i have in mind, and who isn’t defo possessed but its still very much a wip.

I like how a handful of anons have kinda just rolled with "Mama Yi" as a nickname for this AU version of him, what do you think of it yourself?

It’s a cute nickname for him I won’t lie and I’ve been giggling at it. His official AU nickname is Yinners, cause it rhymes with Dinners, but Mama Yi also works because you know that is what he is.

Just don’t let him catch you saying it.

Kind of a dumb question I know, but will Rising Suns tags be updated as more chapters are added? Just asking because Psychological Horror was added to the AO3 page, and you stated every additional chapter will get wilder and darker than the next (plus do you think whump would be a fitting tag?)

Yep, as the chapters go on I will be adding the corresponding tags to ensure that absolutely nobody is jumped by anything unpleasant. Rule of thumb is that if it is on the tin, it likely is going to be mentioned or depicted somewhere.

Some chapters might he more lighter than others to give both myself and the readers a bit of a pause, but whinp would be a fitting tag for it as well. I’ll be sure to update it again soon.

Does Xi have a favorite food to eat?

Yeah, she loves rayumn, like the really spicy stuff. Its also something she has to often hide when she eats it. Yi keeps her on a really strict diet, due to her sensitive health, so often times her meals typically consist of things like rice porridge (congee), lots of veggies, (no GM stuff), and whole meats, and fish.

But every once in a while, Xi will sneak a stash of cup rayumn since stove top is too dangerous (i.e momma will find out and be mad). Tho he does allow her a boba or two because of her dad. They go on family outings to go get it.

Heya, just wanted to say that as a fellow artist, rest IS important! If you get stuck on a project or hit an unexpected barrier, try walking away from it for a bit and take a breather, do something else. Then you can come back to it later once you have fresh ideas or feel comfortable working on it again. Please take as much time as you need with Rising Sun as well as any future art pieces you'd like to do in the future, your health matters too!

Thank you for the kind words Anon. I do try to rest in between my chapters by doing other stuff like drawing or writing other fics. Resting is important for the sake of my own health, and I will always be thinking of Rising Sun and accompanying AUs as well.

Red and White has been on my mind recently with it getting a bit of an update. So look out for that okay?

He plastered Kuafu with kisses when he was drunk, you better bet your sweet asscheeks he was being stupidly open and affectionate with Kuafu as his emotions went into overdrive.

Kuafu didn’t mind it one bit, but you can also imagine his worry when Yi was also overworking himself.
