Laurence really would make a terrible diplomat. He doesn’t know about the carrots and sticks.
the warm hands of ghosts 🤝 the scholar and the last faerie door: siblings who would do anything for each other
thinking about eddie again. eddie who’s quiet and loves and understand plants like no one else does. eddie who readily accepts clover into their friend group without a care for her background because he understands she’s an outcast, too. eddie who has trouble saying no to his friends because he doesn’t want to be the scapegoat and lose their friendship. eddie and his infectious enthusiasm. eddie who gets overwhelmed being in busy, loud places. eddie who just wants to escape to the cottage with his boyfriend. eddie who is afraid of alden and hates him a little for it (but also still loves him). eddie who struggles with his mental health. eddie who develops one of the most powerful magic in the group because he saw something in a field no one else cared about. eddie eddie eddie
"My answer is yes" 🌱
one really really really funny thing you realize when you are studying history is that people pretty much always desperately wanted to post online and would have been soooooo fucking crazy on here. i wish hildegard of bingen was oomf
everyone you are doing such a great job in the tags of this post
Emily and Wendell from Emily Wilde series :)
Reminder to self: A file folder of outlines and character notes and half-written scenes is the equivalent of an artist’s sketchbook and holds just as much value to the creative process.
If a framed canvas isn’t the only worthwhile expression of visual art, then a fully edited and polished piece of significant length is not the only worthwhile expression of writing.
Just now realizing the significance of Wendell, upon first arriving in his kingdom, asking after the rhododendron fields before anything else. He is THE lover boy.
finishing “a far better thing” by hg parry moodboard:
H.G. Parry is such a brilliant storyteller and I am distraught to learn the fandoms are practically nonexistent for her books….wdym no one else is going insane over sydney carton (“a far better thing”)….wdym “the scholar and the last faerie door” isn’t the next big dark academia book…WHAT DO YOU MEANNNNNN
I really love Sydney’s persistence throughout the book to name a fairy “Bartholomew.” I love his silly little endearing moments.
Sydney: think of me as a dissolute dog, a useless piece of furniture that sits in the shadows in the corner, seen but never known, forgotten and distantly loved—
Charles: why of course Sydney you can come and go whenever you please, we are always delighted to have you, you haven’t needn’t even ask! :^]
I think one of my favorite things about Heather Fawcett’s adult novels is how her FMCs are always intelligent. Both Emily and Agnes are so clever and can think their way out of any situation, which I love to see!!
