Just all that "oh I don't like that inkling because blank" nonsense or "you should avoid that shark because I have an issue with them" rumour milling. Your problems with another fish are your own, and dragging others down into the rising tide of your personal undertow with someone else to hurt that fish makes you the bully; not the victim."

"...I swear idiots who act like this are barnacles on the back of the fish they torment..." Anemone just lets out a huge sigh, falling back on her couch to watch a movie instead of surfing her social media feed on her phone.

Not Nemi forgetting her own birthday when a leap year actually happens. Totally not that.

"I think I miss the heavy snow of my childhood a bit, but I don't mind the more temperate weather of Splatsville; save some of the haughty turf players with icier dispositions than a blizzard I've run afoul of lately. I'd just rather not be shoveling up snow piles that are always at least twice as tall as me."

Anemone shudders at the thought of the snow piles higher than a coach bus that she remembers as well.

Nemi was a little stumped as to what to really give Rocco for his birthday but she opted for making some custom grip replacements for his roller, a custom made apron he can use for work, and a gift card for Hotlantis.

She also cleared her throat upon handing over the gift bag, "And I'd like to treat you to dinner tonight if you don't already have any plans."

Rocco seemed almost taken aback by the volume of presents Nemi had given him, but he eyed each of them, all with equal interest. One by one he eagerly took them out of the gift bag. The custom grips got several test-squeezes, the apron found itself on Rocco to try it on and the Hotlantis gift card got an eager smile. Coffee mugs, here he comes!

"D-Dinner too?!" How much was she spending on him...? Past money troubles gave him a sense to think about how much things cost, and all of these gifts does make him think... for now, he didn't raise any of his worries about how much all of this would come to.

"Yeah... yeah, I'd be down for dat! Where'd ya have in mind?"

"Just that retro diner off of the main street. They've got a really good menu there, and the atmosphere is nice too." She also chose it because it wouldn't be overwhelming for Rocco. Last thing she wanted was to make him stressed over a dinner date.

"Does that sound good? I was planning we could meet up there around, say, five? If things go well maybe even see a movie after too?" Anemone was putting the added idea out there for him if the date went well. Given she's had to be so direct with him so far, she wasn't going to let the opportunity slip through her fingers this time. She wanted to spend time with him but also give him a fun night, after all.

Watching Nemi attempt to lift his Dynamo Roller was a sight to behold, to say the least. It's rare that he sees someone shorter than him, let alone a whole head's worth of height... this was a novelty for him! Any laughter he was tempted to let out gets quickly shut down by himself, since she seemed to be having a good go at it.

Once she's finished with her near-perfect swing, any urge Rocco had to giggle vanishes, lest he take a dynamo swing to the head.

"O-Oh, ya want me to be like a teacher? Gee, I ain't ever had anyone ask me dat before..." But he had to admit... this could be fun! Another dynamo buddy would always be useful out on the field with the potential for mid-battle ambushes.

"Well, I owe ya a couple favours anyways, so sit tight," Rocco announces while he shoots a grin at her. "Once you get dat custom Nemi-roller sorted, you hit me up any time for lessons, yeah?"

She shook her head a bit in thought, pulling out her phone to check it briefly, "Honestly given how I work I can probably get a working prototype going today since I have access to the parts. Wouldn't mind you sitting in if you want to see me at work either. It would help too to have feedback of the weight balancing with the alternative materials from you while I work."

"I'll probably have to 3D print a few things too with a lighter material. Nothing too crazy though." She pockets her phone, giving him a smile again. There was a lot that they could do what the printers were going if he agreed to come along. She honestly wanted to keep hanging out with him if he had the time to spare too.

"Dinner will be on me if you want to keep hanging out into the evening." Anemone locks her hands behind for back for a bit, looking at Rocco a bit coyly.

This is basically a date now with that offer, and she knows it.

"This splatfest is a hard one to pick on...I know the left over fuzzy ooze has been causing "Sasquatch" sightings, so that's technically real; something I know the Captain won't like to hear... Still, I'd rather believe Aliens are real."

Yes, this was going to be tough. Rocco’s not even convinced that she can hold one without falling down, let alone battle with it. As any good teacher might do, Rocco had to start with the absolute basics.

“Hey, I ain’t a fan of tellin’ anyone they can’t swing a dynamo if they ain’t da most heavy-lifting squid out there! So! Da most important thing to remember is posture." With a swift swing of his arm, he brings out his Dynamo and drops it down towards his side. "This beast might seem dauntin' to fling around, but don't think of it as somethin' to fight against. Keep yer back straight when ya lift it and once ya drop it, let da momentum push ya with it."

For a brief moment, Rocco offers her his Dynamo Roller. "Here, give it a swing~"

Anemone stretches her arms a bit before taking hold of his offered dynamo. First thing she did was shift the weight back and forth in her hold, getting an idea of its heft before following his instructions to the letter with both arms. She had a slightly slower movement to swing it upwards, however.

Then she swung down and flowed into that momentum like he advised, maintaining a slightly faster than average speed with it until she skidded to a stop. She then lifted it back up and carried it back over her shoulder to him.

"It's a bit lopsided in its weight, but I think I can get a custom balanced modification one cleared through the turf battle council for myself." She carefully set the heavy roller down in front of him, "I don't usually work with weapons but I have the permission for it with my fashion gear. But I still want to keep learning from you in the meantime..."

"Is that alright?"

"I wonder how many potted cacti is an excessive amount...I feel like causing a certain someone a huge hassle." Anemone is definitely plotting something, tapping away at her phone.

"With the train station now open the stores have definitely expanded their selection. I've also been getting more inquiring customers for custom outfit orders...To the point I've had to make a waiting list."

"I don't mind getting business but too many of these new customers are either short sighted or too impatient about what they're demanding. I moved here to the Splatlands to avoid these types of inner city Inkopolis customers. I'll have to figure out a solution soon to shake them..."

"...Whelp I forgot about my own birthday..." Technically that is. She was born on February 29th so she usually gets an actual party every leap year, and just gets some cards and cake every other year on March 1st. She's still looking frustrated about it though, cursing the calendar warning for Big Run overtaking her notifications.

"I don't think we needed the evil of that new clash blaster. I do like the new super chump special though. I'm moot on Kraken coming back personally but I got one friend who is really excited about it...I'm still going to avoid matches for a bit until the younger kids calm right on down."
