Yes, of course we should boycott Harry Potter and JKR media - movies and games - but to do that we need to be able to effectively spread information about why that thing is bad! And all we did was DESTROY the network of people who could spread that information!
Boycott doesn't mean 'pretend the thing doesn't exist'! It's an organized action to deny money to entity by refusing to buy their products. This is the aim of a boycott, not feeling like you're a Good Person because you only consume Good Media.

The only reason this stance exists IS virtue signalling, it allowed certain group of people to feel morally superior for abandoning Harry Potter, while doing NOTHING to help trans people or spread information about JKR's violent transphobia. I hope we can learn a lesson here. That "direct" action means DIRECTED action. It means doing something to achieve specific goals. It means being practical - not like the dumbass liberals say where they actually mean always compromising progress to fascist, but I mean practical as in cognate to praxis, in trying to achieve a specific effect.
It means having a clear idea of WHAT we want to accomplish with that action.
