i find the thought of Yu-yu and Raika both being absolute losers (affectionate) in their own relationship, quite amusing ♡

Now that the hype was worn off, I have personal gripes with this ep.
1. I feel like there's too much emphasis on Michiru when it comes to being an influence on Raika's character. Yes, Michiru was a major contributor but he's not the only one who was part of his character, especially his arc. There were other characters who played a part in Raika's character and progress, mainly Yu-yu.
2. The send-off feels rushed and don't really have an impact imho. The way Michiru validates Raika and even saying he considers Raika as one of his rivals, doesnt really hit that much, especially since he doesnt really seem to care about him in the grand scheme of things. Interestingly enough, I think this would work better if Yu-yu instead was the one who did this to Raika.
If anything, the execution of this episode kinda reminds me of w+D s3 episode 5.
Raika x Yu-yu x Fantôme Raika
You know….. In hindsight, Yu-yu really lost everything dear to him to the Fantasma. Team Blackout. Wonder Hill. Even some of his closest people got turned into Fantome fighters. The things that mean so much to him were gone in a blink of an eye.
Fantome Raika can be considered a narrative foil to Yu-yu.
Both of them weren't able to amount to anything in their lives until they found Wonder Hill. Wonder Hill became their second lease in life. But whereas Fantome Raika sees Wonder Hill and Twilight as a place to seek refuge in the admist of chaos, Yu-yu saw Wonder Hill and Blackout as a second home where he can always come back to at any point. Fantome Raika never ventures out and always comes back to his bubble meanwhile Blackout gave Yu-yu the encouragement to soar to greater heights but still welcomes him whenever he comes back.
Yu-yu is gentle darkness. Fantome Raika is violent darkness. (And they both are Dragon Empire users)
Happy Birthday, Fu Hua!
