Seriously....

Can we please stop drawing attention to Brittany’s private Instagram account.

If you know about it fine, but stop posting about it and drawing attention to fact that it is her and making it public knowledge for the rest of the world to stalk.

Regardless of whether or not you can access it, it is private for a reason, because it is just for her and her friends, family etc.

There have been enough private and public celebrity accounts hacked for you to realise that there are people out there who are not as respectful as you might be.

And while you may only be engaging in what you think is harmless fan girling over a comment, at the same time you are drawing attention to the fact that it is Brittany’s account.

I get it, you’re excited, but the last think I want to see happen is for one of her overzealous fans, or even just a creep, hacking that account or infiltrating it somehow and releasing private information she doesn’t want shared.

I’ve seen it happen before in other fandoms and it’s awful. Fans dissecting pictures and comments that were never meant for their eyes and acting like it is perfectly acceptable behaviour.

So please, for the love of God, if you are a fan of Brittany’s and have any respect for her and her privacy, stop referring to her private account on social media and stop posting screenshots of it too.

The last thing I want to see is a celebrity we admire having to retreat off of social media and out of the public conscious because alleged fans couldn’t respect boundaries.

And that goes for all the Pitch Perfect girls not just Brittany. They share a lot as it is, don’t be greedy and ruin it for everyone else 😔

And don’t use the excuse that people already know about it because believe it or not there are people out there who aren’t aware of it and are discovering it because of posts on Tumblr. If you happen to like a post or a video or a picture and it happens to be on it, that’s one thing, because you’re simply sharing the post, but don’t draw attention to the fact that it is mentioned on it, or highlight it for everyone to see.
