Something or other...

Thirty-something human being, anglophile, history, art, classic film and vintage music lover, wannabe writer, prefers well written story in media to CGI but still has an open mind for an occasional TV guilty pleasure. James Spader is a lovely man and is the reason I'm still stuck with the show I hate to love the Blacklist. Warning for possible spoilers but those will be tagged accordingly.

Dear fellow Spader enthusiasts,

our Jimmy-boy is doing the extremely sexy thing of ~turning 60~ on February 7th 2020 and we (@agxntkeen and @apicturewithasmile) thought that’s the perfect opportunity for celebrating the man and his career. So the entire first week of February leading up to his big day we’ll be organising a Birthday Week event for him.

You can participate with gifs, edits, fanvids, fanart - whichever medium you want. Tag your creations with #Spader60 within the first five tags (this is important!!!) so people can follow the event and find your contributions! Feel free to extend the party to other social media (Instagram, Twitter,…) and use the same hashtag if you like.

Here are the themes for each day:

Feb 1st  —   Favourite Movie: Whether you genuinely love the plot or are just here for the eye candy - what’s your favourite Spader movie?

Feb 2nd  —  Alan Shore: We all love that soft lawyer boy and honorary flamingo. Show us your favourite scene, episode, quote etc. from The Practice/Boston Legal.

Feb 3rd  —  Young Jimmy Spades: Remember the time when the man had hair and only one (1) chin? Yes!? Then let’s go back to the 80s and enjoy the beauty of baby Spader.

Feb 4th  —  Favourite Interview Moment: From pretending to be yoga instructor to using his house as an iPod - James has told a lot of hilarious stories over the years. Which one did you enjoy the most?

Feb 5th  —  Raymond Reddington: This wouldn’t be a proper Spader Week if we didn’t show our love for the FBI’s our Most Wanted criminal mastermind. Let’s celebrate Red with our favourite scenes, episodes, quotes etc. from The Blacklist.

Feb 6th  —  Favourite Love Scene: James has shot an overwhelming amount of love scenes throughout his career - some sweet, some romantic, a lot of them downright sexy. Pick your favourite and share it with us!

Feb 7th  —  Birthday/Free Choice: It’s James’s 60th birthday today. Do whatever you want to celebrate him and his big day with style.

Chapter 7 draft

"Well, I'm here."

"And it's always such a pleasure to see you, Agent Keen." Raymond Reddington greeted her as she walked into his cell.

He sat in a chair with his hands cuffed to the table. She couldn't help but stare at how different he looked, not a businessman, or the three-piece-suit, larger-than-life persona she first met. Instead, he was dressed up in blue overalls, no healthy slightly tanned face but he looked very pale and the right side of his neck was heavily, if sloppily bandaged up.

And it may be her imagination but she was pretty sure a speck of blood on said bandage seemed to be growing, the longer she stared at it. "You're bleeding." She said dumbly. Instead of worry, Reddington smiled widely at her as he replied seemingly unconcerned, "Oh this. It'll pass. I've had worse." At her disbelief he added quietly, "Don't worry, Lizzie." He said and motioned with his shackled hands to her to have a seat in the wooden chair across from him but she opted to stand in the corner. "What happened to you?" She tried but failed to keep the concern from her voice. He went serious. "Let's just say a slight disagreement with a familliar inmate." She raised an eyebrow and he clarified, "There is not a prison on this God's green Earth where Raymond Reddington doesn't know a few guys. Sometimes that can be quite advantageous and sometimes those guys end up being some nasty double-crossing former associates." Liz knew that as an FBI agent and a moraly responsible woman, she really shouldn't feel sympathy towards the man, especialy after what happened with Floriana Campo and the possible repercussions to her current job or her career. She was currently the only one on the task force aware of what actually happened during the Campo case and conflicted about what her next step should be under the eyes of the law. She was conflicted because in spite of the way the case ended, many lives were saved right now and in the future and what she consequently learned about Reddington's friend and bodyguard, something that made her see another positive side behind Reddington's master criminal's facade.

She doubted her colleagues and AD Cooper would be as sympathetic or understanding if she added this information to Red and Dembe's profiles. At least she finaly learned one reason why Dembe was so loyal and loving to apparent monster Reddington. As if on cue, her phone buzzed with a new text message. She read it. 'Agent Keen, my office, in 5 minutes.' "It's AD Cooper. He'll want the full report. Time to face the music." She said to Red. "What are you going to do with the information you learned?" Red asked, curious. "I guess I'm going to tell the truth. Or what he expects." She said as she gave him a weak smile and left him to ponder what she meant. --- "Sit down, Agent Keen. I've just had a very unpleasant chat with the new Attorney General. Care to explain how our first suspect on the Blacklist ended up dead?" Harold Cooper asked, his voice calm but his eyes were shooting daggers at Liz. "Well, Sir. I'm not exactly sure..." At noticing a micro expression of fury in his face, she added, "But I can try to walk you through the events." "Please do." Cooper replied curtly. Five hours ago...
