Currency Demonetisation — Next Challenge is Cyber Security
9th November 2016, one of the big decision day for India…. Prime Minister took bold step of scraping all existing Rs.500/- and Rs.1000/- currencies and he look forward, rather confident to solve many problems like black money, corruption, terrorism, wipe out parallel economy, clean politics so on…
People are appreciating this step as “Surgical Attack”… and frankly, I too appreciate such a bold step… but unfortunately, no one is talking about risk, and problems which will suddenly erupt to large extent…
And does Government is ready to handle it ?
Limitation on cash transactions will surge e-transactions… use of debit card, credit card, e-wallet etc will see a sudden spurt… Consequently this will lead into cyber security implications…
Cyber security risk is growing day by day universally…. Organised communities of cyber criminals are growing, they are targeting consumers, Banks, financial institutions at large…
Everyone is well aware of recent attacks on banking systems, data leakages breaches in government departments, Online fraud etc…
These breaches are an examples of how vulnerabilities in the processes and in IT systems can be possible, and that too in our financial institutions which need strongest cyber security. Although RBI has his own cyber security cell and must have taken some action but there is no statement from government on incidence. what does this shows?
One, our banking systems and financial institutions are not fully prepared to stop and handle cyber attacks… They are way behind on technology front to stop such attacks… and neither they are capable to minimize losses post attacks…
Second doubt, does Government is really prepared to enforce required cyber security norms and systems? surely, we can’t say “Yes”… How government is going to handle such attacks and Challenges? This is prime question. Not only banking prospective but from consumer prospective as well…
Infrastructure is another issue… ~30% ATM are not working.. and most of them are on older version of OS which is weak and vulnerable. We are regularly witnessing various security breaches in these machines… connectivity is weak in urban and rural areas, which is main hurdle of online transaction… same is the case of traders systems, PoS systems etc…
Next important issue is, Country‘s cyber law which is really not reached to required maturity… certainly not strong enough which can protect consumer interest and rights… and further trouble is, does officials and political leaders understand it… whenever data leakages or attacks and incidences happened in past, officials looked it as very regular and least important matter…
With new step, not only cyber thieves but our neighboring states will also pour lot of money and efforts to brake our economy…. Government, Finance ministry, RBI, we all needs to be on toes now…. these agencies will need a robust and a proactive cyber security strategy to ensure government’s policies will eventually deliver on their promise…
Only time will prove, does PM decision was perfect and thought well for future challenges!!! Its not time to just celebrate or cry, it’s time to prepare for next challenge…

Enterprise Storage: Turning Data into Intelligence
it’s one of the essential things in IT, and the demands put on Enterprise Storage systems are constantly increasing. As these demands increase, it’s important to look at all of the available options and understand what advantages or disadvantages each implementation may hold.
In general there are three types of storage an enterprise may consider: Direct Attached Storage (DAS), Network Attached Storage (NAS), or a Storage Area Network (SAN). Let’s start by looking at the simplest example of DAS.
You probably suspect that your current data overload is going to get worse (and you’re right). However, data by itself is useless, especially for improved decision-making. Companies that don’t realize this try to improve their odds of success by acquiring yet more data. Instead, they should realize that data, like iron ore, is merely a raw material. Smart companies use business intelligence to process their data so that it turns into information and, ultimately, into knowledge.
With an infrastructure designed to turn data into information and, ultimately, knowledge, the enterprise is better positioned to respond and innovate in all phases of its operations — such as customer relations.
Amazon and Netflix are great examples of companies that far along on the maturity model for data. This maturity model addresses the issue of big data, and how companies can manage their data in increasingly strategic ways, turning that data into information and, eventually, knowledge. Below are the five maturity stages and a quick overview so that you can determine where your company fits in this spectrum.
Question 1: Storage solution providers are essential partners for some IT organizations and most companies are likely to employ the services of a data storage provider at one stage or another. State your opinion about this market opportunity.
Disruptive technologies are experiencing strong sustained growth in the market today. Storage is providing prominence to these technologies and the way it is evolving it is consequently driving increased demand for storage products. With big data, cloud and machine learning becoming dominant, storage technologies often become automated and more complex….
