Just a general thought on Season 1 of Discovery

Isn’t it at least hypocritical - to be able to proudly push righteousness on behalf of others playing dirty in your stead? L’Rell is in this story, plain and simple, a MacGuffin - a very convenient way to end Klingon war without getting one’s hands dirty. Yet in the real world it will never be as simple or as convenient. And it makes this whole conclusion of a season-long war plot seem pretty delusional. 

I get it that Discovery was always intended as politically driven show with a clear statement to make. And I won’t comment on the statement.  I just hope that at one point (and better sooner than later) the creators will reach a place where they will feel they’ve done their social/political agenda justice. And I hope that at that moment they will find courage in themselves to finally set these characters loose by giving up this believe they have that a right way exist. All of these characters, and especially Michael, need a challenge, a real genuine inner challenge. An uncertainty that will make them grow. Each of them needs to go where no man has gone before.

Unfortunately, currently Discovery is so certain of its own righteousness that it is, frankly speaking, scary.

You do realize Star Trek has and always will be Social Justice? …

Yes, I know it's about social justice. And social justice is great thing to work for. I just hope that this series can be about more than just that.

Currently I feel as if the creators are scared to question their own beliefs regarding social justice and other things. As if questioning them will make them seem like weaker points. Where it is actually the other way around - genuinely tested beliefs make for, sometimes modified, yet stronger points.

Klingon war simply doesn't work as such a test - they (the creators) over-dramatized the whole situation with the war in episode 15. Federation was almost destroyed, Klingons were euphoric. Considering the build-up, no way I can buy the possibility of such a peaceful resolution. It is childish and unbelievable and make all the speachess about being Starfleet seem forced and weak (although the beliefs themselves are admirable).

I generally had a good time watching this season and have grown to truly like the characters, but I really hope that we can get a better, deeper and a more natural, not forced, story for them in the next seasons.
