So I checked out Baby Monster's debut...

First of all I still want to give the benefit of the doubt bc it is only one song and its kinda hard to judge things based on that

However, given YG's track record I think that was the worst possible choice for me personally. EVERYTHING about that song, from the sound to the structure (rap verse/sung pre-chorus/empty chorus ×2 + bridge/outro chanted in unison), the sets, the outfits, the lyrics...is giving blackpink (which makes the whole thing feel kinda dated btw)

I've seen ppl defend it saying it's just "YG style" but I don't think that's a good enough excuse...other labels have their own "style" but none are THAT set in their ways. On many occasions I've said "it's giving SM" about a song and yet aespa, red velvet, f(x), snsd all have their own distinct sound/concept/image.

I think if you're already getting complaints that your 2nd gg's discography is repetitive...when you yourself promoted said group as a "prettier version" of your 1st group...don't debut a new 3rd group that's just "new 2nd group" but maybe that's just me.

So I guess its wait and see but the first impression is not great...
