Specimen 1978 (JEB)

Personal Log 1258IhI Excerpt Dr. Barbara Helen:

“Things were usually mundane in lab F7. Most “thawed” testing was done by the fields forefathers on the common types of the undead and the really high end stuff went other places. The times and standards left little more then taking tissue samples for testing and manning a garden of zombie popsicles. That was before Jeb arrived...”

Initial report except:

Specimen 1978 was located during excavation of relics from an uncovered structure located I’m the Antarctic(see record 67hh8jf). The team located the Specimen when man’s voice was heard singing leading them to yet uncovered catacomb (see records 88hh8jh, zv8004)

The specimen is a reanimated male, middle aged, no functioning organs besides yet unexplained cortex(see report 223u) activity that allows it to converse as well as functioning eyes that allows one direct line of sight.

While this was thought to have multitude of benefits the subject was far from forth coming. Opting to instead taunt those who inquired about it’s origins, details or how long he had been locked away in the structure, doing so in many languages.

Per standard operating procedure the Specimen was cryogenic encased, although temperature slight decreased to stop it from talking. Scans still show activity in cortex, As of this preliminary report. See attached data...

Specimen 1986 (Seemore)

Personal Log 4145III Excerpt Dr. Diana Krelborn: I fought tooth and nail to get the plant from the Toroti expedition brought to Facility-209 under my care. Carnivorous plants had become both my expertise and hobby but I wasn’t the only botanist in the field. Initial reports had word of several species reported during the trek but after the catastrophic loss of the team and their remaining data we were left to fight over what had already made its way back and was being held up in receiving.

With some clout I had saved up and all my will I was able to have Specimen 1986 brought to my Lab at 209. Seemore was different from the start. A few of the carnivorous species scoff at the protein meal we feed most of the plants, but this is usually a due to there triggers being tied to movement. A lump of meat proteins does little to enact the actions that have evolved to attack what moves, not so much needing motivation as needing something to react to. That was not the case with Seemore. From the moment I dropped the mouse in the cage, I could see the plant start it’s hunt. That fist time he wasn’t much more then a cloned stem. His head following the confused rodent along the cage. His movements almost mimicked a large cat or Dr.Moore’s Specimen 68. Graceful calculation and cold blooded blood-lust combined, it was beautiful. 

Continuing study has found the following: 

Specimen 1986  intelligence levels seem to be similar to those found in medium sized mammals. 

Only engages live feed.

While sustained by the artificial lighting, outdoor testing shows behavioral changes in natural sunlight. 

Unlike other known budding species of carnivorous plant Specimen 1986 seems to relieve on a main or “Master” bud, the other buds acting as secondary “heads” or appendages along with it’s tentacle like vines. 

It’s growth and development while slow takes unexpected turns. Grew seemingly random patches of hair unexpectedly after 2 months. 

Responds and recognizes certain pattern in it’s surroundings such as circumstances for feeding time and artificial daylight periods.

These events are not just easily swept away as she pretends they are and I can only request a review of her operations so many times. She is insistent that the deaths are due to negligence on side of the eaten party but there are no other departments with the amount of incidents so closely grouped together, in recent memory. I do not know if she has received some species she is not equipped to adequately control or if she has just become lax in her job security but I’ll be damned if enter lab 6D to find out. Specimen 620 (Gloobie) File 7D

Dr.Ackerman’s Initial Report File c5568

Despite disappearing into the Toroti Jungle the Expedition “Edna” (file 1455) was quite fruitful. Along with providing critical data linking certain species of Cat-Person to breeding among the Asuri and Pintrnello tribes they also sent back multiple species of creature yet to be identified at that point. Specimen 402 was included among the living samples sent back for study.

Specimen 620 came paired with another similar creature (Specimen 622), identical anatomy but much darker in tones and coloring. The two were originally stored together in Base 7 but when the bizarre behavior apparent in certain surrounding specimens was concluded to be due to the their combined effects in captivity 620 was sent for my study at Facility-209. I will be continuing to work close with Dr.Long at Base 7 to study the couple in a joint effort to determine nature of the phenomenon. 

So far, from the singular specimen, my team has determined the following:

 Aside from the effect of the combined captivity the creature seems to have no other special non physical traits. Dr. McEvee’s team will continue to monitor scans.

The large tongue is used for multiple functions and serves as the main appendage. This includes climbing, hunting and even moment from place to place. 

The tongue contains a light acid and helps digest live pretty. Insects mostly. 

Movement is slow when being observed but the specimen seems to move quickly when out of sight. 

Although we have no explanation for the unified effect, scans have shown that it is a recent development. Not yet known is whether it is a extra evolutionary response.

Specimen 67 (Franklin) File 7H

Excerpt Dr.Ackerman’s Notes  File 56d

The explosion at Base 6 left many unanswered questions and lead to a few changes within the agency. The blaze that wiped out the 1200 square foot bunker took with it the 10 man team that ran the facility as well as all of their work and data, which was stored locally in those days. When my team was sent in for clean up we were left with little to do but clean rubble. Franklin was all that was left living. As far as we could tell DR.Rodrick had shielded the creature with his own body to save it from the blast. For a detailed report on the Base 6 “clean up” operation please refer to Article 7899o with clearance level 14.

Without the original data and therefore without the original intent of the experiment we have been able to gather the following information on Specimen 67,  dubbed Franklin by my team here at Lab 4 of Base 209:

The Specimen was most likely engineered, containing DNA in it’s make up from several species of mammal as well as plant material.

It’s current state is not the work of postnatal surgery, but it’s attributes instead engineered at conception.

The eyes and eyelids of the Specimen are fully functional but have not opened on it’s own. 

The Specimen maintains a calm demeanor, even in the sight of predators. 

Because of docile nature and several repetitive or unused prices of anatomy the current theory remains that Specimen 67 was created in order to test experiments intended for living matter.

Note to Dr. McEvee: Specimen 67 while by most standards grotesque in appearance is met with mostly warm admiration from the staff and everyone else who has come in to contact with it. Please evaluate for lab 6h. No negative effects recorded so far.

Things are a lot different in R and D then they were in administration. I knew the facility developed some pretty serious stuff but it’s hard to imagine when it’s just numbers on a paper. After passing my secondary security clearance I headed straight inside the legendary Lab Four. I got awkward stares from the development team and scientists but I could not help but wander around the various tanks and containers that filled the glass cubicles and temporary walls. Monstrous abominations in various states of conciseness paired with complicated control panels lined the outer concrete barrier. I could only take it for a moment before being summoned by Mister Mesteph and shown to my desk.
