✦ ▪       Inigo turns his head towards Olivia and smiles warmly at her, nodding. No matter what it was Owain was doing, he always put 110% effort in. There was a charm to that, he supposed.

               He watches his mother closely, now, as she recollects on her parents, on the family he knew nothing of until today. He can see the pain in her face, and it mirrors in his own hearing the story. He disliked bandits already, they were a threat to the peace he aimed to bring to this world, and to the lives of innocent people. To know that they were responsible for the death of his grandfather.. It only fueled his hatred.

               Inigo is silent for a moment, taking in the harsh reality of his family’s tale. Was that why mother left their village, then? Why she traveled the world? He knew all too well how it felt to lose one’s own parents. Their family home never felt quite right after that day. He wondered if it was the same for her. A thought strikes him in that moment. His mother… His real mother, the Olivia of his world… She was reunited with them now. Once more, she would be able to dance alongside her mother. In that, he could find some solace. 

“Mother… I never knew. I’m sorry.” His tone is soft, gentle, and full of pain all at the same time. He tries to comfort her, placing an arm around her shoulder. “I am certain they would be ever so proud of all you have achieved.” A thousand questions race around his mind in that moment, but he holds back, he does not wish to upset her with a sudden bombardment of intrusive questions on a painful memory.

❀         She doesn’t quite mean for that frown to stay on her face for too long, especially when she sees the upset start to mirror in her son. Olivia sighed a little, placing her hand over his as pink orbs glanced in his direction. She’s sorry it’s not the sweet story he might have hoped for, but she was happy in that village with them, it was only once her Mother died that she began to start travelling Ferox as a dancer. Not that it went well straight away.  

               ❝  Inigo, it’s not your fault my darling. If anything I should have told you more about your family before now. ❞  Olivia offers him a warm smile, knowing just how hard it must have been for him to lose his parents, his actual Mother and Father. She wasn’t her, but she would do her best to be every part of the mother he had lost all that time ago  ❝  ... I know it’s not an ideal family, but the Shepards will always be there. ❞   She chuckles, a fond memory crossing her mind as she glances out across the courtyard.  ❝  And you have your Uncle Basilio, he can be a little much but he cares about you a lot. ❞

             It may have been a touchy conversation to her years ago, she would rather not talk about her past to many people but this was her son, she had failed to tell him much and so the dancer felt like she needed to make up for it.  ❝  You can ask me about anything you know? If there is anything you want to know about me or even your Father, I am open to talk about it. ❞

✦ ▪       He can’t help but chuckle at his mother’s statement. Owain certainly was a performer. At times, it could be exhausting, but it was also what Inigo loved most about him. To Owain, no aspect of life was mundane. He could make even the most boring job into a seemingly life-changing event. Everything had meaning. The sword by his side was no mere object - it was a companion. His night watch duties was an oath, protecting the lives of those he held most dear. Even if the others couldn’t understand what he meant, Inigo knew how to read between the lines. 

“ Heh, I suppose you’re right. Perhaps I am too harsh.. I was lucky - Even if I lost you, I still spent the first few years of my life learning to dance from you. I am a dancer, Owain is not, it’s unfair of me to expect him to suddenly fulfill a role he is untrained in. I could perform no better than Owain. ”

“ Ah - I have always wanted to ask… Who taught you how to dance, mother? “

❀        Olivia nods her head in agreement. Maybe in time, the man could incorporate his theatrics into his dance, it might catch her son a little off guard but people often loved the story a dance could bring. In fact, the art required acting to complete the entire performance.  ❝  He adores you, I’m sure he’s working his hardest to finally sweep you off your feet at a ball one day I will love to see it. ❞

               The question only catches her off guard slightly, it’s funny to think she’s never really discussed this with her son of all people. Olivia ponders for a moment, thinking back to the days when she was much younger in Regina Ferox. Her village was rather peaceful, for a time,  she didn’t quite know the horrors of the world until the day she joined the West Khan’s side.  ❝  I suppose the love for dancing passes down our family. When I was younger, my Mother taught me the basics of dancing. She was very good, I was always a little envious of her skills. ❞                For a moment her gaze drops to the ground, pink eyes focusing on the marble flooring beneath her feet as she wonders how much more she should tell him. He deserves to know more about his family really, and why he never met his grandparents. ❝  But when bandits attacked our village one day, my father- your grandfather was... killed in the skirmish. Mother never really danced after that, but she would always try to help me improve my technique until she got ill. ❞

        “ Oh… ”  

        Olivia was stunned for a moment by the question, surprised that someone had finally brought it up. The fact that it was Lon’qu that addressed her fear made it even stranger that. But she was compelled to tell the truth but only after some thought.

       She didn’t believe her dance was good enough, skilled enough to be as far as she was. No matter how much she practiced she was sure her footing was off or she need to improve her posture. Despite any praise, Olivia would continue to dismiss the claims often growing red-faced and fumbling through words. That was the simple explanation but it ran a little deeper than not feeling good enough.

         Few people knew about the noble that had tried to kidnap her before, though she could assume that Lon’qu may have known since it was Basilio that had saved her all that time ago. While she had always been shy the stage fright had somewhat grown from a breach of trust, the noble had tried to snatch her away while she was in the middle of a practicing her routine. Her back was turned and he saw it as a perfect opportunity.

        It might seem silly to anyone else, but the dancer would grow nervous when performing. She was always worried that someone could do it again, take advantage of a time where she felt comfortable doing something she loved. The Shepards had never done anything bad to her, neither had the people under Basilio. In fact, she trusted them more than anything. There was just that inkling, the reminder of what had happened in the back of her mind that someone could.

       “ I just… I’m worried someone will try to take advantage of me… ”
