"Beg your pardon, little lady, but what's a Tris?"
Little lady
She wasn’t the tallest girl in her bunch, but still–- little lady? Tris stared up at the much larger man and glared at him. He was mocking her.
What’s a Tris?
He was definitely mocking her.
“You’re not serious.”
"Alright, doll, but you aren’t making much sense and neither am I."
"One of us has to start from the beginning, but seeing as you’re interrogating me, I’ll begin. I’m Steve Rogers, I’m just a kid from Brooklyn, I’m lost, help me, please?"
"Doll isn't much better."
"Well, Steve Rogers, I’m Tris Prior and–-"
Despite being Dauntless, the Abnegation in her still lingered, so Tris nodded her head and smiled slightly.
“I’ll gladly help you.”
God help her, if her judgement was wrong.
"Beg your pardon, little lady, but what's a Tris?"

“You’re not serious.”
"Yeah, you know, S.H.I.E.L.D.—or wait, maybe you don’t…"
"Kid, you can’t be serious. You don’t know what Brooklyn is? It’s a place in New York. Bustling and busy in the Big Apple—New York, New York? I want to be a part of it? No? No bells rung?"
"Don't call me "kid.""
"No, I don't believe it has. If you want big apples, you should probably go to Amity."
"Beg your pardon, little lady, but what's a Tris?"

"What the diddly is a Dauntless Compound and why is everyone wearing black? Is this a S.H.I.E.L.D. test again, Tris?"
"I’m really tired of being tested at this point, just so you know. I’m just a kid from Brooklyn, though."
"A compound for...the Dauntless. It's pretty self-explanatory–- –-A S.H.I.E.L.D test?"
"This isn't a S.H.I.E.L.D test, but Brooklyn? What's Brooklyn?"
Tris had no idea who this man was, and she needed answers. It was the Erudite in her that made her so curious to know who this man was. Why was here? How did he even get here? And most importantly, was he a threat? Sure, he didn't seem like it but you would never know. Tris herself, had always been underestimated and it would be a terrible move to do the same to him just because of his (almost annoying) positive and Amity-like demeanour.
"Beg your pardon, little lady, but what's a Tris?"

"Okay, dolly, now I’m going to be frank with you."
"I have absolutely no idea where I am. I woke up here. This is not a dynamite situation, as you can see."
"You're in the Dauntless Compound, everyone's wearing all black; can't you tell?"
Speaking of clothing, this man didn't seem to be wearing any clothing that made his faction distinguishable. Strange.
[ Though, by the way he spoke, she would've bet a slice of Dauntless cake, that he was from Amity. ]
"Where are you from, anyway?"
"Beg your pardon, little lady, but what's a Tris?"

"I’m as serious as a dish ditching a danged dad-blamed dead hoofer."
"Try saying that five times."

"Then why are you bring it up again? Honestly, I thought we were beyond this now, but here it is full circle.”
Tobias shut his eyes tight as though this would make everything go away and stop. Reset, even—anything to get away from this.
"It’s not like you don’t talk with Matthew." He added, wishing he hadn’t said it immediately.
"Excuse me?" Tris put in as much offence as she could in those two small words as she glared at him him in utter disbelief. Did he really think she'd get ticked off just because he had been spending time with some other girl?
"Why did I bring it up again?" Her tone was mocking. "I told you, I don't trust her and neither should you. How do you know that she's telling you the truth? You barely even know her!"
Then there was the topic of Matthew. He went there. Tris' voice raised as she became angrier at him. "Yes, we talk, and talking is all that we do and have done."

I’m still not over it to this day. It’s been a year since it happened. Heh, I can’t even bring myself to say what happened still. Pathetic.
She didn’t mean to leave me.
Yeah, well, thanks for that, Tris. Very reassuring.
I don’t mean that. I believe her. I’m just…still working on the ‘being kind’ thing. I can’t be around Caleb. It’s just…too much right now. I distract myself, working as Johanna’s assistant and what not, trying to lead this city to what it should have been to begin with. Thing is, it doesn’t work. She always come back, no matter what I do. Everywhere and everything I look at, touch, smell, go to—she’s there. I can feel her presence in the back of my mind, still remembering our last embrace. Last. I hate that word. I fucking hate th—
I stop in my tracks, staring forward at the silhouette in the sunset. I shook my head, looking away as I knew what to expect. I may be a GD, but I’m not stupid.
“You’re not supposed to be here.” I called out to her. To Tris.
"And why is that?" The figure chuckles lightly as it slowly approaches Tobias, the vision of her hazy as it disappears and appears, like an old tape. "Y'know, I thought you would've been happier to see me," it jokes as if nothing had ever happened; as if there were no simulations, no factions, no death. Like they were just a normal couple living in a completely normal world, doing normal couple-y things– what a kind hallucination.
A hand trails up his arm slowly and cautiously. The figure, known to Tobias as Tris, grips both of his shoulders with tenderness as Tris meets his gaze and smiles. Slowly, its hands slide down his arm and stops at his wrist as Tris tugs him lightly.
"How are you, Tobias? Let's sit, we haven't spoken in a long time, and it's about time we have." The figure's smile was warm and inviting, contrasting the blue intensity of its eyes.
When her body first hit the net, all I registered was a gray blur. I pulled her across it and her hand was small, but warm, and then she stood before me, short and thin and in all ways unremarkable – except that she had jumped first. The Stiff had jumped first. Even I didn’t jump first. Her eyes were so stern, so insistent. Beautiful.
ALLEGIANT AU - ‘Tobias Dies’ Besides Caleb… Everyone she loved was gone. Her family, her loved ones…. She felt completely alone. She felt broken… destroyed. She wasn’t sure if she’d ever be able to recover from this, ever.
