"You....." Duncan ran up and grabbed the collar of their shirt. His fist clenched the fabric tightly. "What did you DO?"
Nox stared at the burning building, grinning even as the man grabbed the collar of her shirt. "I did what you were too afraid to do." Grabbing his wrist with her gloved hand, she squeezed with a strength that didn't seem natural, prying him off of her. "Cops can't chase us if they're all dead, Duncan."
Duncan’s teeth clenched together as she moved his hand away. Even without her shirt in his grasp, his hand remained in a tight fist. He looked once more at the fire stretching several stories upward. Towers of smoke plumed away from it, blending into the darkness of the night sky above. He looked back at Nox and shook his head.
“You fucked up." His words had an uneasy sense of urgency to them. He fumbled into the pocket of his jeans for his keys and yanked them out, nearly dropping them. “We gotta go. Forget your shit. We gotta leave, now.”
Nox rolled her eyes at the man, watching him scramble to get his keys. "You act as if this is my first time. We have three minutes and forty-five seconds before the fire department gets here." She walked over to her bag and hiked it up onto her shoulder.
"Look, I told you I have a score to settle, it's not my fault you didn't listen." She scoffed and trotted up to his bike, climbing onto the back of it. "Just drive, I'll lead you to my place."
The fire raged on, drawing attention from bystanders. Now was a good of a time as any to leave. The last thing Duncan wants is attention, particularly when it could land him in jail. Again. He got onto his motorcycle and sped away with Nox on the back.
"What the fuck are you, some kinda crime lord? Settlin' a score with the police? Shit," he said over his shoulder to her.
Nox held the back of the bike as he sped off, laughing at his words and leaning forward so she could say her answer into his ear. "Not a crime lord but close enough." She purred, her hands wrapping around his waist and resting dangerously low. "Got a bone to pick with the military is all~"
She placed a hand on his thigh and squeezed, leaning back to grab the bike once more. "Head downtown and I'll take you to my place and explain everything~"
