5 signs you’re ready to move to a CRM
Using Excel or an equivalent software to run your sales? As your business expands, expecting a spreadsheet tool to meet all your needs is pretty unrealistic.
That’s where you should consider a CRM (customer relationship management). Sales CRM is a one-stop tool for managing your contacts, tracking your deals, understanding customer behavior, communicating via multiple channels and generating reports on your team.
Many companies offer free CRM software. You can trial the product for 15 or 30 days before you decide if you want to buy it. A free CRM software is probably the best way to get started.
If you relate to any of these 5 signs, you need a CRM right away:
You want a central database, not five separate tools
Excel to store lead details, an email client to manage mails, plus a calling software for your daily calls—shuttling between these tools consumes your time and affects your productivity. Imagine one database which houses everything you need, and offers more features that’ll change the way you connect with leads. That’s CRM for you.
You want to automate your sales process
You fill the sheets in Excel, use it as a data dump, and move on. Imagine a lead fills up the form on your website. The next instant, the lead’s contact details, company information, and social profiles are automatically updated in your CRM. Sounds magical? That’s just one example of how a CRM can automate your sales process. Not to mention the ability to send bulk emails and create email templates within the CRM.
You want to track user behavior in addition to your sales numbers
It’s important to keep track of your contacts’ information and the deals in your pipeline. You also want to know what your contacts are doing on your website, and how they’re using your product. A CRM can give you real-time analytics on your leads, so you know exactly when to jump into a conversation and remain relevant.
You want to customize your sales tool
You can do a lot of things with Excel, but you can’t make it your own. With a CRM, you can decide which fields you want to have under a lead/deal, for instance. You can also customize the reports you want to generate. Customization is a particularly interesting feature to explore when you’re using free CRM software.
You want to integrate the sales tool with other applications
Excel doesn’t let you integrate with and import data from other applications, like MailChimp and Zapier. But you can integrate them with your CRM, and use one tool to manage all your sales activities.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has always had his reservations about artificial intelligence. We can only call it the irony of fate that his newest venture aims at merging the consciousness of humans and robots to create the master computer.

5 Incredibly Useful IVR Tips For Small Businesses
IVR or Interactive Voice Response systems are used by all businesses. Small business owners can be forgiven for thinking that they should not use IVR. IVR is a system that helps everyone who expects to receive calls. It is incredibly simple to set-up and saves a ton of time that you otherwise spend on call routing. If you are not sold by IVR - then do one thing. Call up any company you admire and leave a comment below, if they do not employ IVR of any sorts to receive calls.
If you use iVR already or want to know how to set-up IVR’s then here are five tips to help you set-up the system
1. Greet them like a human
Business play safe when it comes to their phone greetings. You are forgetting that your callers do end up calling other brands as well and it doesn’t do well to sound exactly similar to every other brand in the market. Be different and be friendly when you greet them. Remember they are making a phone call to talk to a human and not your iVR system.
2. Record your own voice
Yes. Give it a try. Personalize your IVR by recording your voice to greet your customers. Some of your customers might recognize your voice from all the cold calls they would have received. They will be delighted to be in touch with someone who is human and wants to make a real connect.
3. Do not make callers wait for more than three minutes
Nowadays people do not make phone calls unless it is their last resort. Hence do not take their patience for granted. Of course, there might be days when call volumes are bringing the roof down. The best option is to let them leave a voicemail and leave the call queue. Having them wait more than three to four minutes is just asking for trouble.
4. Make the waiting period casual
You have to come to terms with the fact that most of your callers are going to have to wait for some period of time. Once you have accepted this reality, the next thing is to make this period of waiting less cumbersome. Do not play repeated monotonous messages while your callers are on hold. Do not play marketing messages during a support call as they might be anxious to get their issue sorted before listening to you.
5. Choose good IVR providers
You need to choose solution providers who are capable of helping you create intelligent IVR systems that can help you with your business requirements. We have scanned the internet for some good iVR systems and are listing them out for you (in no order). Check them out and leave reviews below. Talkdesk, Genesys, Freshcaller, Incontact, CallFire and Ozonetel. If you know any others, let us know and we can add them to the list.
Leave your comments below if you have queries or you want to add more providers to the list.

#TechStandsWithPP: A message from Tumblr’s CEO and Planned Parenthood’s president
When Planned Parenthood was founded a century ago, it was illegal to even hand out information about birth control. Thanks to generations of brave women and men who formed secret societies, challenged unjust laws, and started Planned Parenthood health centers in their own towns, we’ve come a long way since. Millions of people, regardless of income or insurance coverage, now have access to birth control, cancer screenings, and STI testing and treatment. Each year, Planned Parenthood proudly provides health information to nearly 70 million people online and 1 million people in classrooms and communities across the country. Today, America is at a 30-year low in unintended pregnancy and a historic low in teen pregnancy.
But all of that progress is a reminder of how much women and men in America now stand to lose. Extreme politicians at every level of government are doing everything they can to block millions of people from coming to Planned Parenthood, deny access to affordable health care, and roll back women’s rights over their own bodies. We are facing a national health disaster, especially in our most vulnerable communities.
That’s why we’re calling on the tech industry to join Tumblr in standing with Planned Parenthood and standing up for access to health care.
A 100-year-old health care provider and the platform powering 335 million blogs may seem like an unlikely pair. But over the last few years, Tumblr and Planned Parenthood have teamed up to provide information and organize communities in support of reproductive rights. We’re proud of all we’ve accomplished together and with overwhelming support from the Tumblr community.
Technology has become instrumental in the fight for fairness and equality across a range of issues. It has the power to influence public debate, mobilize communities, and — most importantly — offer creative solutions to help people receive better care, no matter where they live or who they are. Finally, the tech industry owes its success to the brilliant people it employs and the communities it serves — and we cannot take their health for granted.
It won’t be easy, but doing nothing isn’t an option when lives are at stake. We need to work together to break down barriers to care and information for the millions of people desperate to take ownership of their sexual and reproductive health, and tackle disparities in health care access and outcomes.
Now is the time to be vocal, visible, and active in your support of Planned Parenthood — starting with the #TechStandsWithPP hashtag to share stories about how Planned Parenthood has touched your life, or the life of anyone you know. Call on your co-workers and peers to do the same.
In health care, education, and nearly every industry, we’re doing things that would have been unthinkable a century ago. Think of all we can achieve together in the decades to come if we combine the creativity, innovation, and energy of the tech community with Planned Parenthood’s commitment to helping people everywhere — no matter what.
