Japanese Honorifics: Tsubaki often uses the honorifics "-chan", "-kun" and "-chin", mirroring her casual personality while Shikahiko uses "-dono" more often. Haruka addresses her masters as "hime-sama" (Tsubaki) and "waka" (Shikahiko).

Animal Motifs: Word of God described that kirin/qilin is the official animal motifs for Tsubaki, although her In-Series Nickname as the "bear lady" also works as well.

Tomboy:Â Takes a lot after her aunt, although to a lesser extent, since Tsubaki is way more self-conscious about her tomboyish habit than Kiku herself.

Fujiwara no Shikahiko (CV: Umehara Yuichiro)
Animal Motifs:Â "Shika" in his name means deer. Invoked by a shape of his helmet that looks like a male deer's horn (some rumored that the horn itself was taken from a very fine male stag).
Attention Whore: Well, a bit.
Beauty Mark: He has one, under his right eye. He inherited it from his mother.
Big Brother Instinct:Â Despite his teasing habits and mannerism towards Tsubaki, he genuinely loves her and tends to be very protective over her whenever it is related to marriage.
Big Brother Mentor:Â Aside of that, he is also Tsubaki's personal mentor.Â
Blade on a Stick: His weapon of choice is a jumonji-yari, a traditional Japanese spear.
Blow You Away/Dishing Out Dirt:Â He is aligned with the wind element and some of his attacks has him creating an earthquake on the ground.
Comical Overreaction: Invoked a lot as a part of his characterization.
Cultured Badass:Â He appreciates traditional culture, follows them dedicatedly and is rather somewhat critical about it.
The Fighting Narcissist:Â Subverted. While he does boast a lot about himself and acts rather vainly about it, he will genuinely praise his opponent if they are strong enough to defeat him.

Mikage Haruka (CV: Ueda Reina)
Action Girl: She proved herself to be quite of a competent one.
Affectionate Nickname: Tsubaki and Shikahiko calls her "Haru-chan". While she calls and refers to her master as "Sui-sama".
The Apprentice: She is the student of the current leader of Kuzunoha clan, Suigetsu.
Braids of Action: Has the two braids variant.
Fangirl: The epitome of this story arc.
Fragile Speedster: Like her predecessor, she is quick and has a good attack power, but her defense is frail and won't be able to last long in combat.
Genki Girl: She is certainly energetic and optimistic, though not as Hot-Blooded as her master.
Highly-Visible Ninja: You gotta wonder how she will be able to disguise herself with that colorful, skin-baring outfit.

Light 'em up: Her main forte is using light-based attack to lower her enemy's defenses and creates exploding light clones.
Meaningful Name: Haruka means "spring flower".
Named Weapons: Her sais are called "Hakuchou" (it can mean "swan" or "white butterfly", but it's written with the character of "butterfly") and her shurikens are called "Ginkei" ("silver firefly").
Ninja Maid: Works as a kunoichi for the Fujiwara family.
Sai Girl: Her Weapon of Choice is two sais at once.
Serial Romeo: Haruka easily falls for any good-looking men she sees.
Shipper on Deck: For her master, Suigetsu and Meili.
Skilled, but Naive: Suigetsu mentioned that she has the natural talent as a kunoichi, but yet still inexperienced.

Yang Heilian (CV: Taniyama Kishou)
Animal Motifs: People likened him dragons due to his nickname, but some has also compared him to pandas.
Ax-Crazy: Has shades of this, especially when battling, even though he is actually normal. It is often noted that his personality changes quite a lot when he's battling.
Bishounen: Of a Hunk variety.
Blade on a Stick: His primary weapon is a traditional Chinese spear, guan dao.
Blood Knight: Oh, very much. He is famed because of his strength and dueling habits, anyway. He loves fighting because he gets thrills when doing it and the respect that he earns from it.
Boisterous Bruiser: He would never get tired of boasting of himself and how he's famed for his strength, at least in Kuon.
Deliquent: His design and personality is based on one.
Face of a Thug: He is very intimidating and gives Slasher Smiles quite often, but he is actually good-hearted.
Good Scars, Evil Scars: He has a Rugged Scar on the left side of his cheek.
Heroic Bastard/Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Face it. He is a troublemaker Blood Knight that reeks chaos wherever he goes and he can be very aggressive when triggered, but underneath, he is a helpful person and is usually nice around kids.
Inferiority Superiority Complex: He feels that he needs to prove himself (that is, by fighting) because he is a low-born, compared to his step-siblings.

Wrestler in All of Us: Some of his fighting style is based on wrestling. Descending Dragon is a powerful elbow drop (and finishing it with a slash from his spear) while Spinning Lotus Wheel is a spinning pile driver.

Una Vivien Nebula Kailani/Princess Una (CV: Ueda Kana)
Badass Princess: She is the daughter of the Mermaid tribe's chief and was said to be personally trained by her own father to be a warrior as strong as any male warriors in her tribe.
Celibate Heroine: Has no particular interest of getting a husband whatsoever.
Christmas Cake: In her tribe's culture, a mermaid fifteen years of age must be married with a husband, making her somehow fits into this trope by her culture's standard.
Friendly, Playful Dolphin/Sapient Cetacean: Yam, her sidekick and playmate. He hails from the dolphin tribe, who are all Sapient Cetaceans.
Godiva Hair: Since she doesn't wear any Seashell Bra to cover up her top, her hair also works as an obligatory cover-up.
Hair Decorations: Uses sea star-like hairclips of three different sizes on her hair.

Prongs of Poseidon: The main forte of her tribe. Also works as her Weapon of Choice.
Rebellious Princess: She refused her father's offer to marry and breaks the rules of her tribe by personally doing a research on human and collecting objects from human world.
Shameless Fanservice Girl: Doesn't wear anything to cover her top and she seems to be fine with it.
Tomboy Princess: With a Girly Streak too, since she is shown to be interested in female human's dresses.
Walking Shirtless Scene: Since she doesn't use anything to cover her up.
