Is this foreal?
Yes itâs a real service. I do volunteer work for a rape crisis support service in my city and texting is one of the features we provide as well. But just to boost its credibility, I tried it myself:
reblog to save lives!
You can also text âSteveâ to 741741 if youâre a young person of color. The website for more info is stevefund.org
My understanding is that itâs more multicultural and some folks feel more comfy with that in mind!
^^^^^THIS
get help guys, please. if youâre hurting, donât let that hurt consume you. seek help.
I never knew this. Itâs spectacular.
THIS is what I was looking for a few weeks ago when I was in crisis; reblog to save a life!
oh, itâs still 2012 and weâre doing that thing where a woman can only be badass and strong if she acts and looks in ways that are stereotypically manly???? lol ok
Ok Iâm just gonna rant about this into the void and not give a shit if anyone comes after me for having an opinion.
No one who has a problem with this scene has a problem with make up overall. We stan any awesome human being irrespective of their make up choices.
We just have a small teeny tiny issue with the fact that a woman whose signature look is grunge (leather + bike + rock and roll (notice the lack of make up on that list)) has suddenly found the time, in the middle of an apocalypse no doubt, to put on perfectly winged eyeliner and a very flattering shade of lipstick to pair with a sexy top.
Not that she looks bad cuz she looks fucking awesome with or without make up and my very bi ass should know. But we just think itâs a teeny tiny coincidence that when a woman was directing this character, she was rocking a typical grunge look and the second the she was put in a dudeâs hands, she has on make up that doesnât fit in with their predicament at all.
(this is probably the most polite I can be about thisâŠ. Ask @albarosa27. I spent an entire screaming about this with her.)
itâs like when Emma Swan got Stepford-ized on Once Upon A Time all over again. thereâs nothing wrong with the look in general, but it contradicts the characterâs established aesthetic preferences
Real life women can wear whatever they want, and I better not hear a word about it from anyone. Female characters who suddenly change their styles when given to the control of a male creator are deeply suspect. The difference is agency. Stop making excuses for blatant sexism; sexist men love it when women lay covering fire for them.
Womenâs healthcare in America, meets womenâs advertising in America. Cross section this Venn diagram with the #WaronWomen.
âDo you have headaches all the time, ladies? Could it be because you have chronic stress from fighting for your right to exist, not be raped or sexually harassed, or from male politicians deciding your healthcare is their decision, rather than your doctorâs and yours⊠I mean, migraines? Take this quiz so we can tell you to take this pill.â
I kid you not, these two magazines were in the rack directly next to each other at the neurologists office today. They are advertisements for Big Pharma, lulling you into taking a womenâs magazine sponsored quiz, to tell you to take a pill. Another pill, another day.
Women in America are stressed beyond reason. Stress is a large cause of headaches, and yes, migraines. Instead of relieving our stress, the establishment is hell bent on medicating us into numb oblivion.
#womansday #betterhomesandgardens
Do better for women. Youâre womenâs magazines. Donât make your front pages advertisements for quizzes that any stressed out woman with headaches would answer positively to, and market another pill to shove down our throats.
We donât need to be docile. We need relief. We need self-autonomy. We need our bodies and minds to be respected.
Yeah, a lot of migraine sufferers such as myself may be helped by this new la-di-dah pill. Yanno what else helps me?
This: Not worrying about how the lights are going to stay on during a government shutdown. Not worrying about how Iâm going to feed my children, let alone get them through college without the backbreaking student debt I got mollycoddled into. Not worrying that if a guy decides to assault me, that Iâll be forced to carry a baby to term, saddled with medical debt and emotional scarring before I put said baby into the godforsaken, abusive system that foster care and adoption has become. Not worrying about catastrophic weather and climate events wiping out life as we know it before my children grow old. Not worrying about some white dude shooting up my yoga center, my bank, my movie theater, my workplace because he has a thing against women living, breathing, and functioning outside the legal and social guardianship of men.
So for right now, maybe you shouldnât be so utterly tone deaf to the REAL stress women are going through every day, and take your pill and shove it.
For now.
Reblog if you agree.

So very, very true
The first time I met my boyfriendâs grandparents, I was terrified. First, I really wanted them to like me, and second, he told me they were pretty religious. Theyâre Roman Catholic, but Iâm Jewish, and I didnât get the impression from the rest of his family that that would upset them, but I wasnât sure theyâd be chill with us dating, and Iâm always afraid of those unconscious, anti-semitic micro-aggressions.Â
Sure enough, within an hour of meeting me they asked if I was religious, in a way that was obviously asking if I had a religion, and which one it was. I calmly told them I was Jewish, and my boyfriendâs grandmother lit up. Her mother was a Syrian who moved to Brooklyn in the early 1900âČs and she grew up in a Syrian and Jewish community in Brooklyn and boy wasnât it nice to have someone around who could help her with her Jewish pastry. It was really pleasant. His grandfather was mostly quiet.Â
After lunch, he and I shared a cup of coffee and some cookies and I told him about my brothers. He asked if my mom was ok with me dating a gentile. And then he looked around, saw we were alone for a sec, and asked me to follow him out to the garage. In the garage he asked me to take an old picnic basket down from off a cabinet. And then he told me to open it. The moment the lid came off I knew. I knew that shade of red. He told me to take it out and lay it across the floor. It was a Nazi flag. Not just a Nazi flag, but one that was big enough to fly outside a government office, like a massive one. I laid it out, ice in my veins, trying to figure out what was about to happen next. And then he told me to take my shoes off and stand on it.Â
He told me his vision wasnât good enough to get into the army, so he snuck on a ship and figured that theyâd have to deal with him when he was in Europe, and thatâs what happened. He told me he went because they all knew it was bad, and he wanted to help. He told me he took the flag off of some dead Nazis. He told me to go home and tell my mother that I was safe with these goyim sheâd never met, that I was loved and welcome and that theyâd fight for me. He told me âNever Againâ.
He passed away a few years ago, and only after his death, cleaning out his closets did we find his old patches and look up his division. This quiet man who said very little but always shared a cup of coffee with me after lunch was in an anti-tank division, and he and his division liberated camps in Poland. He saw the horrors, first hand.Â
Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day. Today is a day to reaffirm our promise of âNever Againâ. Today is a day to remember that the only way for things to get better is to fight. Today is a good day to punch a Nazi. Do it for me. Do it for Grandpa Rocco. Do it for the world.Â
Well, Iâm crying now.
A MUST read.

Being the familyâs assigned IT person is fun because everyone gets annoyed when you donât know what to do
also they donât try to do or teach themselves anything, becuse they can just get you to do it for them!
and itâs such a chore to put on the pennywise makeup every day too like ugh
I donât understand why books have shifted from having summaries on the back of the covers to having one-line reviews.
Seriously though. I want to know what the book is about. Not that someone from the Evening Standard thinks itâs a masterpiece.Â
I have been waiting for this post my whole life.
