more to come in the next few weeks... where should we meet next year?
@linkedin panel discussion with co founder, Reid Hoffman speaking.
Magic taking questions at @linkedin keynote #intalent
Magic Johnson keynote.
Today we have the honor of listening to NBA great Magic Johnson speak about the trials and tribulations of his talk show career, well... Hopefully not. however I'm sure he will come up with something, he isn't named "magic" for nothing. Anyhow, funny business aside, I thought I'd post this clever video regarding the history of the iPhone. Why? It's cool, and the iPhone let's me do my job better. In fact, it let's all of us do our jobs better... Social, HR, Talent attraction, you name it. I look forward to posting several more post to this blog today as this wonderful conference comes to a close and to throw a tweet up when it's all over. I'll let you know more about that later. An excellent presentation by Head of global attraction, John Tait.
Thanks to all my followers on Twitter, I just hit 5000 followers. I would like to give extra special thanks to the attendees and staff of Linkedin for giving me the edge. The Talent Connect 2011 conference has accelerated this win. I'll schedule a Tweetup to celebrate & appreciate those that continue to engage. I will also do a dance at that time if encouraged.
PS I'm easily encouraged.
Becoming your Social Media Champion.
Imagine the power of your entire company using the social media to achieve common goals. In this session, Talent Acquisition leaders will share how they have educated not just hiring managers, but business partners in other parts of the compant- such as sales, business development and even the executive office - on leveraging social media for success.
Connect!
This was a real breakout keynote for the folks at Linkedin. Not only did they present their "up and to the right(tm)" trajectory, they presented some hard data and a road map of where they want to take the company. That means, they are looking to grow their network past the 600+ million working professionals globally and eventually reach the 3.3 working people globally. Tall order. However, if someone can do it, it's with Jeff's leadership and the talented team working beneath him at the world's most advanced professional social network. The bookend dunk of adding Sekou at the end was a nice touch. Well done.
Linkedin Keynote
This fellow is good at PR too. #spin #intalent
Hiring managers = Brand Ambassadors. Build your network.
In 2009 50% of students went to career fairs. In 2011 it dropped 16% to 34%. #intalent.
Is this an official Linkedin blog? Certainly not, I work for a silent giant called Johnson Controls (Green Energy Systems) however - in a way, this blog is an official representation of the Linkedin brand. Let me explain... The content users create for companies and brands ultimately become the brand. Steve Jobs is quoted in the mid eighties about this in regards to the massive spend that IBM was making in terms of consumer side spending, however it was people that were using macs that were passionate and connected to their brand. The same pretty much goes today and that in large part is due to both the user experience and relationship that people have had with brands. I am about to embark on a deeper conenction with the Linked in brand and look forward to it. To this day Linked in has never let me down, overshared, or disappointed me. I look to be more connected with it, and it with I. I look forward to Talent Connect 2011.
PS Watch the video, not only is it cool and talking about the next chapter of where we are going, it's perhaps the most soothing music you'll hear all day!
