Anonymous is an information activist group run through the internet. They choose targets and leak information on sites like WikiLeaks. They do this because they feel like the people don't know enough of what they should so they look to expose it to the world
Hackers get a bad rep for the few groups that hack servers just to cause crashes and turmoil. Quite a few groups today, hack because they believe in collection action framing. They hack to allow the public to know of government secrets that they think that the public deserves to know and leak it on sites like WikiLeaks.
This ties in with information because the whole reason for the hackers hacking is to release it to the public
In the second part of the documentary, the biggest theme was the PRISM program. 9 major internet companies were asked to share the reports of traffic with the NSA. When it was leaked they protected themselves by saying that they didn't give direct access to the government. It was later found that the NSA tapped foreign servers where sites like facebook and google thought they had safely bought server lines.
This fits in with interfacing because the tap and the server are communicating with each other and the tap duplicates and saves all traffic that goes to that server.
In part one of the documentary, the main focus was "the program". It was an attempt to protect the USA from terror attacks by looking at technological records of both foreigners and citizens. After 9/11 VP Cheney wanted to push every boundary possible with Bush's presidential power through War Time Authority. At the time, it was illegal for the NSA to look at citizens phone calls and track them, however Bush made this legal to help look for potential terror threats.
This fits in with algorithms. There were a series of machines set up to track every search, every text and every phone call throughout the nation and save it to be looked at.
With the accessibility that phones give people today it is no wonder that families separated by long distance can still keep in touch. A great example of this is in Filipino families where the mother leaves for work in Europe and the father stays home with the children.

How a political candidate acts has a huge influence on the way we vote. In Jones' article on emotional appeal he shows that just by seeing happy and confident, a politician is more likely to get votes than one who is stern and stoic
I found this very interesting because just minute things like that can make or break a candidates run.
Niche is how the media fits into everyday life in space and time. This picture describes that because of high speed internet bringing us news and keeping us up to date no matter where we are.
This can be related to music in today's internet. It is brought to us at all times and can be found everywhere.
The art of asking is a method used by Amanda Palmer to sell her music. Instead of having a set price for her music, she offers it for free and encourages burning and torrenting it. To make money she asks that people donate some money to her but doesn't require it.
This is similar to interfacing, however it isn't done between person and computer, it is done person to person. She stays after her shows and talks to her fans and hangs out and that's when she makes her money.
Sampling is the act of taking a small portion or sound from one song and adding it to your own. This has been done since the late 60s and had been debated on being copy write infringement or not.
A lot of music groups today do it with baselines and beats. It relates to the Web 2.0 because it keeps musicians grouped together using each others work.
"Connected Presence" is a term used to describe how families stay connected through cell phones to check up throughout the day. In the article by Toke Haunstrup Christensen, there were several families interviewed about their tendencies to keep in touch throughout the day. They all had the same answers for the most part in that the kids would call to ask common daily questions and parents would call to check up on them so they could have "positive control". "Positive control" is a way that parents can check in with their children but keep it light so that they don't get defensive. They do it by asking questions like "Did you get home safe?" or "How was your day?"
In our world today, technology of choice is used to rationalize love. There are sites everywhere like eHarmony that has you create a profile and then allows you to search others who fit the mold you want them to. You can find them based on looks, age, jobs, wages and anything else you can think of. Then there are apps like tinder that while you don't search for specifics, you still decide who you want to talk to based on their pictures or profile. There are algorithms behind all of these sites that find your tendencies and start showing more people who fit them.
"Digital Natives" is a tern used for the generation raised in the technology era. They are supposed to be more e-literate and be able to surf the web much easier than "digital immigrants", the generations before modern tech.
"Digital Natives" are important in todays world because they are more tech savvy and everything is becoming electronic.
All social networking sites have their own norms and unwritten rules. Facebook is no different and a study was done on college students to find out what they were. Every action has an effect on another person, like giving them a gift or writing something rude on their wall. Because it is all virtual, if a negative action is done the person simply just deletes you as a friend.
There are also the unwritten rules like not tagging someone in a photo if they are in the middle of doing something dumb or while intoxicated. It is also seen as rude to deny or ignore friend requests from someone that you have met in person before regardless how well you know them.
