BLOG POST: ISSUES
The screenshots were taken by Maria Alejandra Martinez, so the green boxed texts are from her.
During the process of creating this project we came up with a couple of minor issues, these were talked over and solved really quickly, which showed that the group dynamic in general was amazing. These issues were:
- The Cigarette
The first issue came up with the character created by Robert. The main direction given was the fact that it was supposed to be an old man wearing futuristic silver clothes. He chose to design him smoking a cigarette, which didn’t sit well with everyone. We had this discussion in the group:
We left the issue there the first time, but it came up again since not everyone had given an opinion. The final decision was made like this:
As it’s shown the issue was resolved partially through votes and partially through exposing everyone’s honest opinions and reasons. At the end everyone was happy with the final result.
- The voice recording
At the beginning we agreed Emiglena would be the one doing the voice over recording, for the “MARS” character but later on we thought about the accent and concluded that the best was having Robert doing it. This decision was made during one of our first meetings, and the reason behind it was that he is the only one in the team whose first language is English, so his pronunciation would be easier to understand for everyone. Robert was a little unsure about it, but he had no good reason to back off, so he did it, and he did a great job! Emiglena added an effect to the recordings before they were added to the video, but even though Robert still doesn’t like hearing himself in the videos they turned out really good! He even worked on adding emotion to the last recordings, which Maria Alejandra appreciated since she was recording him and kept messing with the monotone way he started recording.
- The website
Emiglena was in charge of the website and she was doing an amazing job, but suddenly it stopped working. Nevil tried to help her but it just wouldn’t work. Finally we met on class the last Thursday to o over it and decided to create a new one from scratched with Maria Alejandra’s user, and finally it worked out. Since we worked on it during class Maria Alejandra got to help Emiglena with uploading the videos, the maps and putting on the codes, but Emiglena was still in charge of everything working out and the design of it. Everyone agreed that even with this hiccup (which wasn’t her fault) she did an amazing job and we couldn’t be happier with the final result of the whole thing.
Lastly we have to add the fact that every step we took we showed the progress to the rest of the team and asked for feedback, which we always got in the best way. As a proof of this we would like to show these screenshots of the group chat in Whatsapp, which give a clear view of the interaction and trust we had between each other in the team.
Overview
The Interdisciplionary Project is already underway, and it's surprising how quickly time has flown. A very interactive project which set in motion all the students and their creativity. It's a wonderful sensation when members of a group work together to develop something promising and enjoyable.
Our team (GROUP 9), was made up of four people who were all highly motivated to achieve something, contribute an idea, assist and encourage one another in our accomplishments. Dividing the work that needed to be done, was not difficult because each of us selected to do what we were best at, and also work we had never done before.
Robert (MA Game Design): As part of their profession, they assisted with the 3D realisation of one of our project's characters. Attached to it, he assisted in the realisation of the narrative script as his experience with scientific and astrological films was amazing. Furthermore, since Robert's voice was considered the most appropriate to use in our video, it was voiced over by Robert himself. Finally, I want to add that Robert made it possible for our project to create a "funny tag", which will be used if a player fails on his journey.
Maja (MA Interior Architecture): With her creativity she helped to create the initial ideas, which were later elaborated in the group. She was ready, with the attitude of a leader, to lead our group in an excellent manner, guiding us at every stage of the project. It also enabled the creation of videos, as well as the illustration of video background, the Astronaut Storyboard, and maps. Maja also contributed to the group's blog articles, generated QR codes along with questions about disabling them, and helped create the Web.
Neville (MA Game Design): A highly positive member that assisted in the creation of the 3D Astronaut character. He was always willing to provide his thoughts and assist with the elaboration of the narratives. He also assisted in determining distances from one spot to another by calculating both the distance and the time required to get from one point to another. Neville also enabled the printing of tag graphics with QR codes.
Emiglena (MA Graphic Design): the group's youngest member, with her passion and, of course, skills, contributed to the creation of the blog and website. She was also willing to design other illustrations such as web backgrounds, storyboards, oxygen tags with coders on top, primary illustrations used as draft for the work and group blogs. Moreover, Emiglena was in charge of the photography and recording of numerous moments during the group' project creation.
It’s true, every one of us took on different aspects of the project, but we were also ready to help with ideas, physical and psychological support to anyone who needed it. It was a wonderful and amazing experience. Congratulations, Group 9!
New Discoveries
Megi : makes weird noises with her mouth (amazing talent). Also she is the spirit of the joy in our group.
Nevil: likes to drink coffee without any sugar in it, and alsooo without taste.
Robert & Maja: Probably they gonna end up killing each other.

PROJECT OSIRIS
Year: 2089
Crew: 1
Mission parameters:
Phase 1: 240 days Launch to Martian elliptical parking orbit Boost to heliocentric orbit Insertion into low Earth orbit Atmospheric re-entry to target site (expected radio blackout: 04 minutes)
Phase 2: 4 days Survey target site Conduct experiments Collect samples
Phase 3: 240 days Launch to low Earth orbit Boost to heliocentric orbit Insertion to Martian elliptical parking orbit Atmospheric re-entry to landing site (expected radio blackout: 07 minutes)
BRIEFING
Your task is to navigate the target site and search the buildings. You will also collect samples of the atmosphere, soil and water (if you find any). Your mission should last four days.
Working in a group with other people, especially those you do not know, is typically thought to be tough, but in this situation it is not. We feel quite good working together. Moreover, we are able to comprehend, be heard, and provide space to everyone who want to express an opinion.
Class week 2
Today we found out about each other:
Megi: is a sophisticated liar and didn’t have a glove to draw
Maja: loves spoilers and is weird
Robert: has 13 year old computer and likes hippies
Nevil: wants an iPad and should have written his individual blog posts before class
Don’t ask how we found these facts out.
Next post next class !!!!!!

First Tasks as a Group
The first two tasks we had a group were:
1. Cutting a yellow a paper into shapes that each one had to be the half of the one before. So, we got that wrong, or we didn't get the rules as clear, which was a pity because we had like 23 shapes. Even though we failed we laughed a lot because we were rushing to do it.
2. Dropping the egg from the window. We tried the predictable route of wrapping the egg as much as possible with the materials that we could use. We intended to inflate the balloons to use as padding, but at the last second one of the balloons burst. That really negated the effectiveness of the design.
Ultimately we realized that it was easy to interact between each other, the roles were taken by everyone unconsciously, allowing the work to go on faster. It was strange.
